Hiya guys. I have the blinking green light. I know this means there is no power going to the drive. I've checked and hot glued the micro switch. I've changed the power cable to the drive. Still nothing, so I took the pcb board out & noticed this:

So, do you reckon it's fried or solderable?
Thanks for looking.

Did you do that?

Did you ever see the console work right before the blinking light issue happened?

No I didn't do it.
Yea the xbox has been working for over a year after I had it modded to play back ups.
I was watching a movie through the usb when the green light started blinking.

I'm assuming you have checked the eject/load sensor in the drive to make sure its acknowledged the completion of the tray open and the tray closed before you pulled out the PCB?

Looks like a poor MXIC job, but if it worked before, it should not just mess up on its own, can you read the DVD Key?

I haven't completely removed the pcb, I just pulled out the wire bands in the clips & turned it over.
I don't know how to read the dvd key.

Do you have any experience in this kind of work, if not, I'd suggest you take it to a local repair shop or whoever modded it for you for answers, because, just simply looking at a poorly soldered PCB is not going to help anyone help you, unless you have some experience and can try a few things.

I'll have a go at anything. I have a soldering iron & am willing to give it a go.
I'm a quick learner.
Doesn't matter if your a fast learner, if you start practicing your soldering skills on this it wont be anything to save later. I suggest you do as rghpro said, or get something else to practice your soldering on.

to proceed you need to see if you can dump the files from the dvd drive - you need a usb pro for this

without a usb pro you are pretty much stuffed

Antalpromille, you've misunderstood me, I can solder & also a quick learner.

I haven't got a usb pro so I really am stuffed.
Is there any pics of what that soldering is meant to look like? Google was no help.
Cheers

Google mxic unlock and look at the pictures to get an idea how the traces goes and what's connected to what, ignore the cut since it's suppose to have continuity after you completed the trace.

If your PCB did get fried, overnight, somehow, very strange, there is always LTU2 option. Again, requires soldering and whatnot, a bit more than a MXIC hack.

Even if the trace became detached, your drive will still work fine, something else must be amiss. If you start messing with your PCB and mess it up, this will be the ONLY option for you.
