JUNGLE FLASHER Is my Probe 3 broke?

Hi Guys

Not a noob here, have been flashing drives for many years now. So I have the Probe 3 and CK3 Pro and have been using the MPX01 point to dump all Liteons for the last six months with no problems.

Now suddenly the last four Liteon drives I've had will not dump their key. Drives show up in JF correctly, all with stock 02510C firmware as the consoles they are from have been updated to 13146/13599 dashboard. I probe the point, get the message that the key has been dumped ok, and on the power off for 5 seconds and power back on get 'PhatKey extraction failed!'.

I'm on JF 0.1.86 (267) which says support for Lite-on Phat 02510C. So I'm not sure whether my probe has gone or if the probe is not compatible with JF for dumping drives with 02510C firmware. So been back to old school MRA hacking which is fine but not what I want to be doing ideally.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Cheers
Mark

A galaxy far far away....
for the little money a probe v3 costs, why not purchase another one and see if the one you currently have it broken?

would seem to be the better solution than MRA

You have to press the probe 3 button and then release it, the probe 3 and the mpx01 is still valid even with 02510c. Just make sure ou are following the prompts to a tee in jf bud, hope this helps ifnot come back andwe will see,

so I am pretty sure he already knows how to use it

Hi Guys

Thanks for your prompt responses.

frayed - I can buy another probe 3 but just wanted to see if anybody else had been experiencing this problem.

piromaniac - I've been following one set of instructions to a tee, the one that always worked for me for the last dozen or so drives. Yes I depress the probe 3 button for 5 seconds as opposed to powering the CK3 off for 5 seconds. Although I have tried both methods and every other possible way of doing it to no avail. Might check the button with a miltimeter and make sure it's still cutting the power to the drive still.

Ok well I made sure that the MPX01 point was clear of any surface coating and I also tried the old 1.79 version of JF when Phatkey dumps were first introduced, still no luck. On another note I then did the MRA hack with the most beautiful trace cuts I've ever done so I ended up smiling anyway :).

Right then I said earlier that I wanted to try and test the probe's function with a multimeter. You know the button on the wiring loom, when pressed does that only cut off the 3.3v power to the DVD drive or does it also do something with the signal down the probe line as well? I've got a feeling that the loom button is working intermittantly as sometimes it seems that the power isn't cut to the drive and I want to know how to check this with a multimeter.

Does anybody know which wire should be going from 3.3v to 0v when this button is pressed? If someone could just point out which wire on the connector block it is then it saves me having to start stripping them back trial and error! I will google in the meantime ;-)

Resurrection post.

Ok so I split the heatshrink tubing on my probe 3 and checked with a multimeter that the switch is cutting the +3.3v line when being depressed. So I know that the switch is fine now.

Can anyone tell me what values the probe point should be giving on a multimeter, at the various stages of the Liteon mpx01 dumping procedure? I noticed that probe just sits at 0.01v throughout the dumping procedure, it drops to 0v when depressing the button. Is that operating correctly?
