Hi,first post here.As the title says,is it useless for the hitachi 78? It worked on my old hitachi 47dh which i flashed no probs, just wondering if it will work with my new 360 which i'm sure has the hitachi 78 in it? Thanks in advance.

i'm positive it'll work, if it has worked before with hitachi drives..
just use this Slax boot cd method (only way for 78 )

it'll be recognized in windows, and you have to use Firmware Toolbox 3.0 for this job..
follow this video tutorial for flashing with FW TB 3.0

Nope, will not work with v78 drives. It will work with already flashed v78 drives, but not flashing a v78 from stock firmware. Sorry.

Had a surprise when i opened 360,a 47dj drive! I bought the new 360 in october 2006,was sure it would be a 78! Oh well, flashed like last time and all done.Another question,i used garyopa 2.3,what is the difference between this and 2.1? Haven't been keeping up with the changes.

Not much changed. Some issues with v40 ad v58 were fixed and they added support for the ss being at an alternate location for some EA games that were doing so.
