Is the RGH mains power sensitive?

I have installed the RGH hack (Cool Runner / PHAT / Wires) on a 256MB Jasper and it boots fine. Initially it took about a minute to boot but I put the capacitor (50nF not the 68F all I could get) on and relayed the wires as recommended and it boots in 5-15 seconds in either the first or second glitch attempt. All is working fine and I am happy.

I tried using it at my mates place using same controller and external psu but it refused to glitch, the green light flashed every 7 seconds and after an hour with different power points etc it just would not glitch and boot. I took it home thinking I may have bumped it on the trip over but that was unrealistic as the wires are solidly glued in and my soldering is fine. I plugged it in at home and it booted in 5 secs like gold!

The only difference I can make out is that I am using a very good quality power board to protect my devices and my mate is not. If his mains line is noisy or slightly under powered would this cause the boot problem? I event tried a higher powered supply that I had with my xenon on my jasper box thinking it may boost the power to the box but still no glitch. This is frustrating and I guess I am posting this to see if anyone has any recommendations and also to add to the knowledge of when things work and when things don't. That may help out others who have done everything right but the box is just not glitching and maybe they should take a look at their power.

Cheers and Beers,

PS. Thanks Team Xecuter the cool runner and nand-x are awesome products :)

It turned out to be a bad HDMI port on the TV, changing to another port fixed the problem so it was nothing to do with the Power. It was a generic Kogan brand TV and not all the HDMI ports are working properly on it. The box is and always was working fine :)

DO NOT plug a xenon power block into a Jasper console. Your lucky you didnt break it.
The jasper is not designed to run on a 16.5A power brick. Most times the console will just RROD untill you change the brick to the correct one but not allways.

I have had no problems running a newer lower powered consoles on older higher powered bricks as the console will only draw on the current it needs (I have done this with countless consoles across all motherboards - sans slim). The problem is that if you were to mangle the plug to fit the other way around a newer lesser powered brick into an older console then it would not have enough power and "could" possible damage it. This is why Microsoft have made great strides into making the newer (lower powered) console bricks not fit the older consoles yet the other way around is fine.

Sorry mate, but that is total rubish! I have always used a 203w on all Phat consoles, never been a problem and it never will be, the console will only draw the current it needs, its only an issue if you could for arguments sake say plug a 150w psu into a xenon, whcih you cant do anyway
