Serious question. i'm told that solderless is sh*t, but i would rather not solder, if i buy an xapt3r and install it, will i have to do any soldering at all? because i don't understand how d0 works without solder.

i know you are all gonna say 'nothing beats solder', and i know it doesnt, but is this a good alternative? is simply moving the xbox gonna stop the chip from working?

there is ZERO soldering with the xapt3r .
none at all, so go for it if you worried to solder your xbox.

what is the alignment like on the xapt3r? when i said problems i meant things like the xapt3r not working for whatever reason, and if any features will not work 100 percent.

It seems like the Xapt3r coves the LPC port without any soldering - but don't you still have to solder the d0, LAN, HD leds? And the 1.6 rebuild PCB ( very little soldering, but still some) ???

I might be wrong - I just got interested in modding my Xbox... (so new here...)

apparently no soldering is required at all for 1.0-1.5 at the moment, apart from the lan and hd leds. d0 doesnt require any soldering.

i think 1.6 requires a separate device not yet released.

Looking at the pictures of it, I can't see how it will get unaligned, since there are pins that actually go into the board and then it gets screwed down in place.

i know, i've never understood how it gets unaligned, but several people have told me that thats the problem with solderless, that and the connections arent as good.

Sorry for getting offtopic but what else would be different?

I know you have to get that specific bios pre-flashed for the 1.6b?

And then the diff LPC port ofcourse... Is this xapt3r for the new 1.6 lpc port? or the 1.0 - 1.5?

only thing i could amagin having problems is that D0 point slipping out but i think that goes in pretty good. I know some noobs will still probably f*c% their xbox up some how some way but it looks very easy to do. I used to have a slderless 2.2 or maybe 2.3 i forget, but the d0 point was always a problem.

no, the xapt3r covers the d0, but if you have an X3 and want the HD and LAN lights, then yes, there is soldering involved. the HD and LAN lights are pretty easy to do, just make sure you read and see pictures of where you're supposed to solder, then try it on an old motherboard, or graphics card, something of that nature.

There isn't going to be a perfect connection with solderless, but you don't NEED a perfect connection, because as we all know electricity can find its way through even the smallest thing.

Can you use a third party memory card on a banned 360?

i got banned from live a while ago, i was wondering if i could be able to use third party xbox 360 memory cards. i heard u get banned if u use them, but since i am already banned does it really matter? also are there ways to alter HDD's to make them work on the 360?

Re: Can you use a third party memory card on a banned 360?

You can't be banned for using third party memory cards. The 8955 update blocked the Datel Max Memory cards, but if you own one Datel will replace it with an updated version for free.

There is a way to make unofficial HDDs work, but only up to the max official HDD size, currently 250 gigs. There are dozens of tutorials on that subject, it shouldn't be hard to find one with Google.

Third party memory cards didn't get you banned, after the newest update they got locked out so they can not be used. If you got banned in the most recent wave or if you have played a wave 4 game then you need a MS card
