If there is such a thing as XGD4, I dont think M$ can do much more than XGD3 as that uses up the full dual layer disk nearly... Im sure C4eva will have something to say about the next M$ trick... He is always one step ahead.

I think MS wasted enough millions on XGD3 ;)

XGD3 pushed the boundaries, but if MS can fit more tracks on a disc, c4 can write a firmware to a) read it b) write it.

Just like XGD3.

Sure it wasn't.....

I mean they didn't want to make the data partition unreplicable on burnable media without making a new fw squeeze more tracks onto a disc - something they probably only joked of as it was being coded.

Has any game used that space yet?

XGD3 was never designed as an anti-piracy measure. It's there to reclaim 1GB of wasted space from a DVD partition that's not needed any more.
I assume you're being sarcastic. It's borderline undetectable though. Just like LT+.

(I actually have no idea if you're serious as I don't have any extracted games)

But didn't topology stuff come with XGD3? Surely the topology verifications didn't aid the reclamation of wasted space. It was for better anti-piracy checks I thought.
ap2.5 was in xgd2, too.

But ap2.5 was defeated without Burner Max. So something obviously changed when XGD3 came in. Random topology checks?

EDIT: I think maybe I'm wrong and ap2.5 wasn't defeated without Burner Max. All I know is that at one point the checks were predictable and Burner Max was required (apart from the truncation problem) due to the introduction of 'random' checks.

EDIT2: I think what I've said is BS. If I had less honour I'd delete my utterances to hide my ignorance.

There are no topology checks, lol.

You can check size of games post-install by checking Settings/Storage ;)
I have;

Halo ODST
Halo Reach
Guitar Hero World Tour
PGR4
Trivial Pursuit
Burnout Paradise
Assassins Creed (no idea what one)

If any of them get anywhere near 7gb I'll be amazed.

AP2.5 changed method in the run-up to the metro dash, but is included in all XGD3 titles. So yeah, I guess I'm being a little optimistic in thinking the change was made for our benefit!
