just check on the settings, it will tell you which dash you have

dale;)

@ daleh43

Its an RROD box, therefore he can't go to the settings menu in order to check the Dash version.

If you're sure that this Xbox hasn't been updated since 2008, then I am pretty sure that its Jtaggable. As for the RROD, it depends on the current condition of the console. If you have tried to fix the RROD before, then there are possibly less chances of the RROD kit to work. If you haven't tried to fix it before, then the RROD kit should work for you.

thats the only way to be sure, isnt it? so if he buys it and fixes it and he finds out if its not jtagable then hes got a spare console that he can sell

You can read the nand before attempting the fix and check the cb in 360flash tool,
If it is good then you can fix it and the is already wired to flash it, if not Save time fixing and it being no good.

Ok cool sounding promising. I'm gonna get the NAND off of it tonight and see what that says and hopefully can be jtag. There's no way of finding the firmware from that NAND is there ?

sorry i ment dashboard ver.
Ofcourse you can. Once you dump the NAND, open it in 360 Flash Dump Tool 0.95. Have a look at 7BL[CG], the number shown there will be the Dash version.

How is it that you said that the Xbox360 hasn't been turned on since 2008 because of RROD and still its patched ?

Doubt it pretty much as MS only started patching CB's sometime last year unless I'm wrong.
