J-Runner crashes when trying to read DemoN nand

Hello.

When I try to read the DemoN nand using J-Runner 0.3 (beta 7) the program crashes.
This is how far I can get it to work:

I checked the virtual memory settings, changed USB cable but still nothing.

This is the error log:

Code:
System.IndexOutOfRangeException: Index was outside the bounds of the array. at JRunner.DemoN.getBlockSize()
   at JRunner.DemoN.read(String filename, Int32 startblock, Int32 length)
   at JRunner.MainForm.<>c__DisplayClass1b.<nandcustom>b__b()
   at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart_Context(Object state)
at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.RunInternal(ExecutionContext executionContext, ContextCallback callback, Object state, Boolean preserveSyncCtx)
at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(ExecutionContext executionContext, ContextCallback callback, Object state, Boolean preserveSyncCtx)
at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(ExecutionContext executionContext, ContextCallback callback, Object state)
   at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart()
Any ideas?

Update: Install pictures. It looks a little messy because it is a phat DemoN on a corona v1 (starwars edition)

This is common. When I read the nand with the demon I always toggle the nand a couple of times through JRunner before I read. That seems to help. And why are you reading 4 times? Seems a little excessive.

Also - why are you reading the demon nand? If its blank it may be causing your issues.

Just update the fist post with install pictures. There are no logs. When I click read it shows "Reading NAND" and the crashes.
The DemoN is installed to the xbox.

But you have written a valid NAND file to it previously?
That's the thing. When I got the DemoN I plugged it to the pc and was able to read and write the NAND as the card in the box suggested.

After that I installed it but the xbox will not power on.

So I plugged it to the computer so I can read the xbox nand and make a copy for the DemoN. Then the J-Runner started crashing and I can't read the DemoN nand or the xbox nand.

I searched the forums but all I could find was a guide to update the DemoN NAND but when I toggle it, never shows the "success" message.

If that's the case you have an install issue. You're saying it wont boot retail? Even if your demon is blank it should boot retail.

Just tried the demon toolbox 1.01 but it give me this error trying to write to the demon nand:

Code:
ERROR: Unknown NAND-flash device id 0xAD71 reported. Please verify correct installation!
If I switch to read the xbox nand I get this error:

Code:
ERROR: Unknown NAND-flash device id 0x2071 reported. Please verify correct installation!
Maybe my Demon is fried? Even though I have the blue led on the external usb connector.

Blue LED on the external connector means nothing. It just means you've tied into the 5V. You have an install issue. I'm not super familiar with these conversions but I will do some reading later and see if I can spot a wrong connection. Your leads look pretty long as well, if I were you I'd go back over all those wires and make sure they're going to the right place, and trim the leads down a bit so there isn't so much exposed.

That's correct. I was under the impression the xbox would not boot because the demon nand is blank.

If I remove the demon it boots fine. I have a CR4 installed (got it at the same time as the demon) and it appears to be working fine. I see a red led and a green led.

Time to remove the demon and start again I guess.

Yep. I'm curious what guide you're using for the phat to slim demon conversion. If you could PM me the link please and I will go over your pics later to see if I can spot something.

And just to clarify....you do know you need to solder the CR_EN wire or use the ribbon connector between the CR4 and the demon or the console wont boot when in retail right? The demon nand should be the freeboot/ecc location and the xbox nand should be retail, always.

I used this guide at first as I had the qsb for the phat demon on slim corona: http://team-xecuter.com/forums/show...p-by-Step-Installation-Guide-DemoN-Corona-QSB

Then I messed up and could not remove the short between two points, solder got under the qsb. So I remove the qsb but pulled a pad and qsb is gone.

Then I used this one: http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?88368-Demon-Slim-Alt-Rebuild-Points so I could compare against the demon phat and match the points.

Now I just removed everything. Xbox is booting, CR4 blinks a green led but I will need a programmer to get my cpu key (if I understood it correctly).

Edit: Yes, I'm using the ribbon to connect the CR4 to the DemoN.

I have another demon on the way with the qsb. I will recheck all the solder points and see what happens.

So I got a new demon (phat) and the qsb for corona and I was able to write to the nand via the pc but once installed I could not switch with the xbox nand nor the xbox would boot.

So for now the demon is sitting on a drawer.

Thank you for the help guys, I will post on the demon forum and see why it is not working right with my corona, even though I'm using a new demon.

FYI. Not being able to switch between NANDs is often a problem with soldering or something as simple as the ribbon cable.

Just an update on this:

I gave up on trying to make the DemoN phat work so I'm waiting on a DemoN slim to arrive with the QSB.

Final update on this. I got a DemoN slim and it is working fine.

Like others said, J-Runner probably was crashing because the nand was corrupt/invalid.
