Hello everyone. A month or two back I bought a J-Tagged 360 from someone and I wanted to extract my own retail games onto my internal HDD. However, whenever I insert a game it keeps being read as a DVD. I came to the conclusion that maybe the DVD drive has failed, however when I inserted a burnt xexmenu install disk it read it just fine. Am I suppose to flash the disk drive or something?

Even if the disc drive has the wrong firmware/wrong dvd key it will still read dvd and cd media but wont play game disk copies or retail

If it has the wrong DVD key then u can grab the DVD key from xell or dashlaunch. U wud then need to flash the drive with that DVD key.
oh that's it. I know how to obtain the DVD key by simply booting up the 360 with the eject button. So would I need to open up the xbox 360 and connect the drive to my computer with jrunner?

u will need a program called jungleflasher to flash your drive. U maybe able to hook it up to your sata in your pc if it supports your sata chipset. Open up your xbox and find out what drive you have then download jungleflasher from there website and in the documentation folder read the jungleflasher pdf.
