Hi everyone,

I was trying to install the RGH on my Jasper, i managed to start xell and the dash after flashing the generated nand, but it had a pretty random boot.
Anyway, i was trying to improve the glitching by installing a 470pf capacitor that i read somewhere it may make it work but after some tries the CR started to blink randomly both green and red leds, so turned of the xbox and then realised the green led was not glitching anymore.
Then i decided to write back the original nand and i got rrod, when i boot op the cpu does not even get hot. By checking the pll_bypass i found out that the cap there does not give any continuity when checked with the multimeter, so i think the problem may ome from there... also rrod after 5secs, so its likely a pll_bypass error.

I marked on the image the resistor that doesn work:

Thanks for the help and sorry for the lng post:D

Yep, you've probably killed the CPU through messing about with caps etc.
Hey Martin the samething happen to me when i was trying to RGH my falcon and i got rrod code: 0022 is their any way to fix this Martin i will thank if you help :)

cap there does not give any continuity
How are you measuring the cap? You don't measure continuity through a cap. You should be measuring impedance instead (the ohm symbol). Also, keep in mind that the cap is polarized so it will only read in one direction. If it doesn't read then swap the leads around.

sorry, i tought it was a resistor, but anyway it doesnt give any signal, even with ohm in both ways doesnt give any value. Also the ones arounf it will give values in cont and ohm, thtas why i tought it may be dead (also i prefer that being dead than a dead cpu xD)

it's a 10k resistor.take it of and test it.see if you get a reading.

Why did you use a cap? Caps are only used for BB Jaspers. Probably killed your CPU
Whilst I do not recommend the specific cap used here, i would suggest that the cap supplied with the coolrunner can be beneficial to a 16mb Jasper.

I've done 2 jaspers, and both had pretty poor glitch times (average time probably about 45seconds), installed the supplied cap, and boot times were down regularly to well under 15seconds.

I know i'm not the only person who has reported this. Not being disrespectful to what you're saying (and in this case he has probably fried it), but just saying in case someone searches and finds this.

the capacitor gets better times with EVERY jasper i've tried. So now i just add the capacitor before i even install CR into a jasper board. It's a must have for ANY jasper.

Actually just doing a 16MB Jasper here now and the cap def makes a difference.

Also did some vids on the smaller points of soldering to help you guys along....

i wonder if it not a case of adding the cap.but maybe a cpu on it's way out.

and doing the rgh adds more presure to it,then it makes it work harder.then this prob occurs.

just my thought on it.

but then i prob wrong.lol

Well, ive tried the 10k one and its still dead, but at least the cpu gets hot again. Tomorrow i will try to reflow both gpu and cpu to see if it helps, but i think it passed away...

you removed the resistor of the mobo and it read ok.

what was the reading from the removed resistor.

how did you try the 10k resistor.

can you check something for me. on the underside of the board near the memory card sockets and rf socket there as a half cm sqare chip. can you check if it is getting hot? i have a theory about these and i am waiting on a console to arrive having serious issues but not quite the same as yours and i suspect said chip.
whats your theory about these

Just bridged it over the old one, i wont have time to solder it properly until tomorrow

I cant feel any diference on the temp on that chip, just to be sure its markd with "U4V1"? It shoud get hot?
