Jasper 16MB does sometimes random crazy stuff on boot

Hi all,

After my first r-jtag console (same type as this one now) which works like a charm, i got stuck on the second one.

But first things first:

Console Type: Jasper
NAND size: 16
Dashboard version: Original 2.0.15574 (Freeboot 2.0.16203)
CB version: 6754

Screenshot of NAND details from J-Runner:

J-Runner log: See attachment
This post monitoring was done during power on's where all kind of strange things (described in the problem section) happened.

Image of R-JTAG board:

Images of close-up soldering to motherboard:
2013-08-18-651.jpg2013-08-18-653.jpg2013-08-18-654.jpg2013-08-18-655.jpg2013-08-18-657.jpg2013-08-18-656.jpg

The GND wire was first one the pcb but now its on the av connector housing.

Description of problem:

If I press the power on button on the rf board sometimes the green led (on the rf board) starts blinking, sometimes it does not, although the chip starts working and post monitoring shows a boot to somewhere after "Started phase 1 Initialization + INIT_PROCESSORS.

Sometimes but not always the xbox automatically starts after Iplug in the power cord without pressing the power on button on the rf board. It is not able to boot then and stops after a few blinks of the r-jtag chip's green led. I found a similar thread for this problem suggesting to change the rf board? Is it possible that the rf board is causing all the crazy stuff going on? I also put the batteries out of all my controllers so no remote power on should causing the problem.

It also happend once that the rf board's leds starts spinning immediatly after I pressed the power on button on the rf board.

And last but not least, as soon as I unplug the JR, the console is not able to boot at all (same settings but only green blinking led, I think Panic post code?).

Currently I'm using DIP 2 (and DIP 7, 8 for Jasper) which is the only one working. (On my first console i got it running with DIP 4, is there such a difference?)

With the few working cycles I already bootet up Xell and grabbed my cpu key. Now the freeboot image is in the NAND.

Anyone an idea what's causing this strange issue?

Was the console working before you started:
Y (updated the dashboard to 15574)

Thanks in advance!

Change ur setup to use aud_clamp instead of ROL, and retouch post out points

Also modify nand for use of aud_clamp, and yes different console require different dips from previous

Okay I installed aud_clamp method and put the new nand in.

Looks like the automatic booting is gone but now there is a 3RROD 0010 on all dips :-/

Sometimes it is RROD as soon as i press power on, sometimes rf panel blinks green chip too and after a few seconds RROD.

Did I install the aud_clamp bad?

Oh sorry, here you go

edit: one additional question: Do i need to unplug the power cord before changing DIP settings or is power off enough?

New post out log?

Also try all dips with different voltage too

I already tried all combinations always RROD 0010.

Today i monitored post out while I tried all dips.
I got some output with DIP1 & 2 on no voltage tuning option.
But with all other combinations i only get RROD 0010 (as soon as I press power on) with no post output at all.

DIP1 with no voltage tuning:View attachment DIP1.txt
DIP2 with no voltage tuning:View attachment DIP2.txt
All other combinations: View attachment all_others.txt

Got aud clamp on wrong point on q2n1 I think also
It is like on this picture of the install guide?! Or did i overlook something?!

edit: i also rerouted the cable so its like the one from the install guide.

Yep. It is kinda strange because the first two dip settings i tried today took a little longer before the console displays RROD (there was also output on post out, see above).
From now on every dip setting, including the two ones which took longer, immediatly go to RROD 0010 if I press power on.

I found a video showing that this RROD is totaly normal if the dip settings are not perfect. However in the video wrong dip settings took some time before RROD is displayed.

Now it is on open again, ready to start the dip settings round if I find something to change on the install.

But also with 1.2 and 1.8 the RROD came immediatly after power on.

Maybe there is already something else broken? :-/

edit: I also wrote the nand image a 2nd time today because I read that this helped out someone, but no change.

edit2: Did it already happen that RROD is shown immediatly on a wrong dip setting or has to be always a bit of delay?

Just out of interest what happens with the original nand writen back to the console ?
Yeah thats also my last idea now. What do I need to do to disable all my r-jtag installation.

Is putting the two switches on the r-jtag qsb to OFF and disconnecting the 5V supply from the chip enough?

If your getting rrod on every dip and setting then something isnt right.

Does your post out go to post 21 in rater consistantly?

Im on mobile atm so cant check logs but I think martin posted a correct postout log from an rjtag.

No, no 21 at all.

What did you have set when you got the postout log from the op?

Flick 78 and 4 on. No jumper. Switch it on and post the rater log.

Instant rrod is not always a good sign. You had from what it looks like in op 'alrightish' postout. Hitting post 22 etc.

Post the log from 4 on
