Hello!

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, it was hard to determine the right section for this. I´ve been struggling about choices. Here´s console details:

  • Console Type: Jasper
  • Programmer Used: Homebrew USB SPI Flasher
  • NAND Size: 16MB
  • Dashboard version: 2.0.13599
  • CB Version: 6750

Okay, so as you can see, the console is RGH (1) compatible. The console was previously modded with ****** Glitcher (First Gen, actually a sample). It glitched pretty fast and reliably and i could do things (listen music, watch movie etc) in dash for hours, but when playing any Xbox 360 game, the console freezes in 5-30 minutes. Picture just freezes. I tried to do everything i knew for fixing the problem. Used shielded CPU_RST cable, re-routed cables, tried different cable lengts and cables, caps and no caps, alternative points. Still it was no-go. Reverted the console back to stock and tried to play some games -> works perfectly without freezing.

I then did the move that i should have done the first place: Bought CR4XL from modsupplier.com to try R-JTAG. Installed it just like in the xecuter forum guide (
http://team-xecuter.com/forums/show...yr-Opus-Falcon-Jasper-Install-Guide-(R-JTAG-)), but no boot no matter what i did. I later found out that the dash must be 2.0.15572 or higher to use R-JTAG. There was no info about this in the official guide? Only Roadmap for noobies had this info.

So. Now its time for choices, should I:

- Update the dash, install CR4XL with R-JTAG option and call it a day (and hope the console doesnt freeze during gameplay).
- Keep the RGH1 compatible dash, remove the CR3 Lite from my Trinity (stubborn RGH2 glitching OFC) and install it to the Jasper and use CR4XL for my stubborn Trinity
(and hope the Jasper doesnt freeze during gameplay).

I would definitely like to keep the RGH compatible dash and use CR3 Lite, but im afraid that RGH type installation freezes my console no matter what glitchchip it has and i dont want to do any useless work anymore. I know ****** Glitcher was old, but who knows was the chip causing it, or was this particular Jasper just sensitive for interference that causes the freeze? Can someone say anything about R-JTAG freezing or not freezing the "RGH-freezing" console? Sorry my terminology. I just mean that does someone have any experience in R-JTAG freezing or not the same way in the stubborn consoles that freeze in RGH?

I dont have any installation pics and i cant take them because i removed the CR4XL from Jasper after i found out that dash needs to be updated. But i can assure that i can solder. Here´s couple of years old pic from my good old Timing Attack setup (NAND wires are little ropey, wire wasnt the best cause the insulation shrinked a lot when heated). Sorry for offtopic, but i just add this pic as a proof that i can solder.

Thanks in advance!

Why not update and use R-JTAG? If you absolutely don't want to then just use the RGH feature of the CR4 which doesn't require a higher dash.

I cant find any info about it right now, but wasnt it that CR4XL doesnt support RGH1, only RGH2? Which means that if i want to use CR4XL RGH(2) feature, i would need to update the dash to use it. Or does my memory fail with this?

when doing the rgh2+ method with cr4, the dash kernel doesn't matter as stated by Krafter.

Personally I'd exhaust all avenues of retaining the rgh1 bootloaders first, once you update you cant change your mind.

+1 on this, I did a RGH1 on a Jasper like yours using a CR3 Rev C and it glitches first time every time and no freezing. If you follow the guide on where to route the wires to the letter it should be fine, keep the other wires away from the red wire and the power cable for the DVD.

I used the shielded cable for the CPU_Rst and for the STBY_CLK I used FT2R2 on the bottom-side.

id also support using a CR3 rev c to do an RGH 1 mod on this console and keep the CR4XL for another console.

every RGH1 mod ive done has been instant boot with no fuss.

waste of a CR4XL.

Thanks for all the replys! Okay, i will swap the CR3 Lite from the Trinity to test if this Jasper works without freezing. Booting speed is not the problem in this Jasper, its the freezing that it always did with other glitch chip when playing a game. I´ll report the results later once i receive my Fujitsu Siemens laptop dock/port replicator (for LPT JTAG programmer).

I´m 100% sure it isn´t the laser, as i can perfectly play same original games for hours (via DVD) when i revert the console back to stock. Immeditially after doing RGH, it starts freezing when playing games. And same RGH freezing happens if i play from DVD/HDD/USB. I´ve also checked and re-done everything thats related to NAND. No bad blocks or flashing failures (dumped the NAND again after flash and ran NAND compare. Everything checks fine.)

Small update:

- Installed CR3 Lite to this Jasper just like in JRunner guides (didn´t use any alternative points). Setup is RGH (1), im so glad i didnt rush with updating to split CB with CR4 XL. Thanks for the replys everyone! I used normal wires in all connections except CPU_RST, which is shielded wire from old RCA-cable. I cut it as short as possible and routed it just next to the heat sinks, directly on motherboard surface. I used these "default" settings:

Phat (Jasper)

LK1 - Short (Disable Crystal)
LK2 - Short (Disable 10 Ohm on CPU_RST)
LK3 - Short (C15 Enable)
LK4 - All Open (Slim Settings)

CPU RESET CLEANER (S2 DIP SWITCH)

Disabled (1 and 5 On)

PLL_BYPASS CLEANER (S4 DIP SWITCH)

(4) 100 nf (Default - Same as CAP solder Jumper on Rev C)

Result is instaboot in every single time i power on the Xbox. I even tried to get it cycle more than once when it glitches, removed the upper half of the case, booted without HD connected etc. No, still instaboot every single time. Now the console is literally running GTA 5 in the other room. I taped the controller so Franklin runs slightly to the right all the time. 2 hour mark coming up without freeze. Im going to reboot it and test it more. I hope it doesnt freeze anymore :)

Thanks for the great product! For me its no more messing around with other sh*tty glitch chips from no on. :)

Still freezes the same way it did with other glitcher. It never freezes during boot or dash. First freeze in GTA V after rebooting the console after 2 hours of gameplay. 3 mins gaming and freeze. Rebooting -> 35mins of GTA 5 without problems -> reboot and tried Red Dead Redemption -> 30 mins of gaming without problems -> reboot and play Red Dead Redemption again -> freeze in 5 minutes of gaming. I already assembled the console and now i need to disassemble it again. I´m getting some pics about the installation. Getting really tired of this sh*t.
