RGH Jasper 512 Occasionally rebooting while playing a game.

Morning All,

I've been having a little problem with my Jasper 512BB, while playing a game the consoles will occasionally freeze for a second, switch off and reboot.

I have no problems with it glitching, always boot into xell with the eject, and into FSD with the power button.
Watching the CR, it seems to be glitching instantly, with times no longer than 10secs, but most of the time it boots instantly as if it was stock.

But sometimes while playing a game it will reboot by itself, not all the time, maybe once in every 10 games.

Any ideas what could be causing this, my thoughts are that its something to do with dashlaunch, but I not completely sure.

What did you use to write the image?

J-runner all the way,

Installed QSB and coolrunner, read nand with nandx,created and wrote ecc, power up into xell got key, created patched nand 14719, and flashed, booted and installed kinect/avatar updates. everything seems ok.

Have no problems booting into xell or FSD, also never had it force reboot while sat in xell or FSD, only occasionally while playing games.
Have also checked my Temps after a forced reboot, and nothings higher than 50c, so I don't think its overheating.

I also work for a electrical engineering company, So the install of the QSB, wires and coolrunner are of the highest Quality, so its definatly not the install.

Stuck at work now, otherwise I'd post pics of my wire routing.

sounds like possibly dashlaunch is setup to reboot on fatal error.is dashlaunch installed? if it is try a nand image flashed to it without including dashlaunch.

try reflashing using either rawflash or flash360. I've seen the odd issue from a 'bad' write (although reports as good).

Thanks Guys,

Will try reflashing when I get home.

I do have dashlaunch setup to reboot on fatal error, which is why I suspected dashlaunch was causing the reboot.
What could be causing the fatal error, and how would the xbox normally handle it.
Also It doesn't seem to be with any specific game, its totally random.

If I don't include dashlaunch, I won't be able to boot into FSD, is that correct.

yea no dl no freestyle dash,but jus test without dl for a while and see if it happens gain.

Not entirely true. No dashlaunch, no AUTO boot to FSD. Nothing stops you using a quickboot or navigating to the xex using XeXMenu.

No worries - just wanted to clarify that DL wasn't needed for FSD.

I had similar problem with my Jasper 512. Great glitch times, all the time, but random freezing only in game (all games) - at least once or twice a day.

I tried new flashes and nothing helped. Then I re-routed the blue wire to the top of the board as suggested by Martin recently. Not a single freeze/reboot in 3 weeks.

Thanks Mate I will try this as well.

I did originally have no end of problems to get it to glitch, until routing the green wire under my xclamps, I will also try the same with the blue wire.

I found it here, may or may not be specific to Jaspers. I did not use the shielded wire option myself as I did not have any on hand. Tried without and mint ever since.
