Hi i recently moved house and since getting all set back up one of my jtags is now having a crazy problem, basically i want to know if their is no way to recover it, the problem is that after setting it back up now it just has a green light on the centre of the ROL and none of the outer ring lights up unless i press the sync button, it was working fine before the move but now i have no idea i have tried reflashing ive even tried the aud_clamp and DVD_tray alt points for the jtag and still no activity from it, i cant even get into XELL/XELLOUS no video or sound output at all, ive tried a few diffrent cables even,

hopefully someone has had this problem before and knows if there is a fix because i am absolutly stumped, there was no bad blocks in the FW section of the nand only the memory card section but xell should boot no matter what right aslong as jtag wires are in place

PS i edited the SMC file to the new jtag settings when i changed the wiring

did you update the smc when you tried the aud clamp ?, also you can't see xell over hdmi.
If you leave it powered on about a minute do you get any rrod or error codes.?

A stab in the dark would be either a corrupt flash after unplugging/powering down, or because the unit has been moved a dry/bad solder joint or standard rrod in the making.

hi thanks for replying, yeah i have edited the SMC ive reflashed the nand and no RROD left it on for 1 hour and fans are working which is whats so confusing to me ive dealt with corrupted nands and cold solder joints ive re-done all points and checked with multi meter and all points are good the console was a few weeks old so i doubt its a RROD problem i bought it brand new and was saving it to sell, and it wouldnt have taken any hard knocks on the way its just one crazy problem, ive checked KV and stuff which is all ok, i have no idea :S

oh and ive tried VGA componant and scart cablesall of which work fine on my other boxes, i know hdmi doesnt work with xell :)

ive also tried using a few diffrent power supplys incase that was the problem....with no sucess

Have you tried to write back the original NAND image and see if it works?

had one in similar m8, turned out to be the board, i did get it up and running by unplugging the fans and let it overheat (2RROD) let it cool down and plug fans back in and power up,its will aleast tell u if its the board and a more permanent solution will be reuquired the xclamp will get u out of jail but even they are a bit hit and miss in my experience if fitting many. best solution is a reflow or even a reball.

hope that helps

well i have flashed back to original nand took me a while to find it but got the right one now, so after booting i got the boot animation where it then cut out and did the 2 flashing light over heating message, and the fans where going at full speed but the console wasnt in any way hot, i can only presume the temprature checker has a problem, and thinks the console is over heating and shutting down

im going to try the heatgun reflow meathod, see if that has any effect but im guessing there is a dodgy componant somwhere on the board if anyone can point me in the right direction if they come accross anything like this in the past it would be greatly appreciated,

have to say i am so glad for my nandx cant imagine doing all this reflashing via lpt

If the console is showing over heating signs, and even if it wasn't a good idea would to be re-apply thermal paste and reposition the the heat sinks first.

I do not see any reason for using a heat gun, it will only make things worse. If you done the above and the console is still showing over heating sign then you can actually disable the temp sensor off the CPU by cutting one or two traces that are near the CPU. Obviously if you do this and the console works again you have no way of protecting your CPU from over heating.

Heatgunning the board will not help your problem. Have your got the stock x-clamps on?

thanks for the help yeah i wasnt really expecting the heat gun to do much but when ive tried all else ill cook the thing :p

just joking but is there any more info on disabling the heat detector, just a point in the right direction :)

p.s yeah ive tried using the bolts instead but no luck, im pretty sure its not over heating it just thinks it is, as it shuts down like 5 seconds after after turning on and occationally get up to boot animation, with no artifacting of any type

You need to cut this trace in the attachment. This could fubar your xbox though if its not a fault with the sensor.

EDIT why not try and edit your config in 360 flash tool and raise the temp setpoints slightly to see if you get any difference in the time you console will stay on for before overheating. Will help to rule out a fault with the sensor.

ok ill see about editing the config settings many thanks for all the help guys, if i get it working ill post back here hopefully it will help someone else in the future

ive re-applyed the thermal paste using artic silver still no luck so if i have to risk destroying it im not to bothered at this point just getting it working is a gamble i might just have to take :D
