Jasper 512mb (phat) - Only boots 1 out of 10 times...

I've just installed a TX CoolRunner Rev. B in my Jasper 512mb (fat) and it's only booting (into XeLL, etc) maybe once out of every 10 times.

The first two times it booted/glitched almost instantly, and now it sometimes won't boot/glitch even after 5 minutes.

However, I can hear the fan restarting so I guess it's attempting to glitch over and over, etc.

I've sealed the box up so I can't take pictures but I routed all my wires according to the pictures of this forum and my solder joints seemed pretty solid.

Can I install capacitors to help the boot time? Should I get that double-shielded coax cable?

I would chech the routing of the wires and also add insulation between the wires and the board. You will have to take it apart and post some pictures too else no one will be able to give a good answer to the problem.

That's way too long for a jasper. Sorry man, but you're gonna have to disassemble and take good pics if you want help.

Thanks for the replies...

I'll take it apart and then take some pictures.

Is it also worth bridging the built-in cap? (remember, I have a phay and not a slim)

OK - I've bridged the cap and SO FAR it's booting/glitching after the first green light. (this is about 1000x better)

However... it's now freezing at the logo or when starting the dashboard... (about 9 out of 10 times)

First, resolder your points.
Second, try bridged cap on both Phat and Slim. Slim sometimes helps boot times and freezing issues for some reason.
Thrid, try using 50 OHM doubled sheild cable. I've never had to use it personally but I've heard nothing but great things about it.

as i stated before, the cap point does LITERALLY nothing for a slim install
the cap goes between Ground and the A (green wire)
you will notice there is no A (green wire) in the slim install

EDIT: my mistake! i thought you were implying trying the cap on a slim motherboard
what you meant was to try the switch in the SLIM position

sorry about that

Are you trying to boot to freestyle or anything? Sounds like a dashlaunch issue maybe?

Then why ask for help if you can't even provide pics???

It's just a waste of everyone's time. Case in point, this is now a 2 page thread with absolutely zero information from you.

You MUST post clear, concise pics. I have a sticky called 'pics' to help you.

Thanks so much for the help everybody... I might just buy a pre-modded console from somebody...

If I want to flash this phat Jasper 512 back to 100% stock, do I use +w64 or -w64?
