RGH Jasper 6751 Help

Got my CoolRunners in, did two Slims and a Falcon, no issues. Falcon was spot on and super fast from first test. Decided to get to the Jaspers I have here, unfortunately for me all three of them are 6751.

So here is what I did........

Two of the Jaspers are BB 512 and one is a Elite 16mb. All 6751 CB.

Dumped nands, installed CoolRunner, wiring and solder checks out 100%. Created ECC with Mutli Builder 0.3 and no boot with no green led. Created ECC with JTAG Tool, no boot but green light every 5 seconds, even for 20 minutes.

Created with Multi Builder 0.2, same results as JTAG tool. No boot, green led blinks every 5 seconds.

I have tried creating ECC's a few different ways with different tools but for the life of me I cannot get a 6751 Jasper to RGH.

I saw the post about the 680PF 50V caps, but from what I see this is for SLOW boot, not no boot, correct?

If anyone has any advice on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Unfortunately I do not have any in-stock, but can get them this week. Just to confirm the 68nF cap helps with general booting, not just slow booting?

I have some 220PF caps I got when I played with the CPLD when RGH was first released, could I use 1-3 on there to test?

looking back - the cap was just to fix the speed of the glitch - no the actual glitch itself

edit - if it helps, THIS was the thread it was discussed in - BB Jasper with black screen

I did everything as you did the only thing that worked for me was to create the .ecc file using multi builder v0.2 (tried v0.3 was not a go) and flashing it with jtag tool. I was told of this by mike523 and it helped him too. I'm not exactly sure why it worked doing it like this but it worked.

There have been mixed results with either 680pF / 100nF / 68nF / 50nF across A and GND. However between 50-70nF is a good number to start with.

If you don't have a 50nF, then join 2 x 100nF in series.

Just curious did you do the donor nand command to get the ecc file?

Like this

python common/imgbuild/build.py jasper6751.bin donor_CB6750.bin common/cdxell/CD common/xell/xell-gggggg.bin

Yeah, tried that with no luck. Just did it again to confirm as I have been working on a few units here.

Still same deal, sits there, green led blinks every 5 seconds, no signal on TV.

Really hope them 68nf caps make a difference otherwise I got 3 6751 Jaspers that won't glitch.

EDIT: Also gave a NAND dump to a few people on IRC and had them make ecc with same results and no it's not soldering.

Same here with 6751 its glitches sometimes but if i shutdown and wait for 15 mins its Glitches 100% no capacitors were applied.

OK. Got my 68nF caps, two different types from two different distributors. Now, I have 4 Jasper 6751's here and not ONE and I mean not ONE has even glitched once with the CoolRunner. Cannot get to Xell at all, tried 3 video out types (HDMI, Component, and Composite).

I have done 5 Falcons without an issue, haven't done any Zypher's simply because they don't deserve a CoolRunner (RROD Anyone?).

My soldering is spot on, that I am positive of. You can say all day "soldering" "its always soldering", yeah well look at the dozen + images I have online of my soldering and the 12+ JTAG tutorials I have on YouTube then tell me its soldering. I have testing conductivity 10x over. I have created the ECC with 5 different tools (JTAG Tool, Phython Manually, Multi Builder 0.2, MultiBuilder 0.3, and GGBuild), none have worked. Also done the donor nand with 6750.

I have installed the 68nF Capacitors in single and double (one on RST), nothing. The CoolRunner just sits there and blinks green LED.

Now, I know I am a newer VIP member but I know what I am doing. I have excellent soldering skills and am totally confident in my skills to perform this type of install. As I said, I have done 5 Falcons without a hiccup and I honestly feel that Xecuter needs to look into this issue and fix it.

I have spent $250 on 12 CoolRunners, plus another $50 in CoolRunner accessories so I am not a happy camper today. Not to mention a Slim HDMI port dying on me after installing a CoolRunner, something isn't right.

EDIT: 3/4 Jasper 6751 are BB Arcades, one is a Elite 16mb nand. I originally started with BB units and once I ran into these issues went right to the Elite as I figured the 16mb nand would be a smoother install but all 4 have the same issue.
