Jasper BB with bad blocks

Hello,

I recently recieved an xbox from a kid who's Network ICS was damaged during a bad storm. I sent it to Ultimate360 to get the ICS replaced and he succeeded in doing so (thanks Ultimate360). Except after he fixed the chip it wouldn't obtain an Ip Address, I put the thread he created below:

http://team-xecuter.com/forums/show...in-IP-address-after-ICS-replacement-on-Jasper

I dumped the Nand and it appears it has some bad blocks. I think it might have to do with the thunderstorm because the only thing that appears to be affected is the Ethernet port. I installed a CR4 with the RGH2 method and it boots to the dash no problem. Only thing is it still won't obtain an IP (either dynamically or statically). I used XNandHealer to re-map the bad blocks and wrote the updflash.bin via xell. That seemed to help a little bit (before, in the dash, the ethernet would cut in and out erratically), now it stays checked in the dash it just won't pull an IP Address. Xell did spit me out some errors when writing the repaired updflash.bin though.

Here's the xell errors I recieved:

And here's my Jrunner log:

I de-soldered my jr-programmer cable, so if you want pictures of that I'd have to update this post a little later. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how I can get this nand in working order and successfully flashed onto the motherboard again?

Have you tried writing a retail NAND image to the console to see if the Ethernet port works?

Let XeBuild remap the bad blocks for you and write the image back using your JRP.

Before I even pulled the NAND from it initially it was doing this, the internal MU didn't even show up until I wrote the xe-build image to it. I assumed it was a 16Mb board until I saw the flash config in J-Runner. I can get a donor NAND and insert the KV and all that (if that's what you mean).

By let XeBuild remap it are you saying to check the "noremap" option in J-Runner, build the image again then flash it?

If you have the original NAND (or at the very least, the KV) for the console, you can build a retail NAND image from files.

Don't use "noremap" - that tells XeBuild to ignore bad block remaps.

OK I built a NAND using J-runner and re-flashed. It only threw two errors at me this time (at block 7B0 and E48). I disabled the CR4 and it booted right up. Still does the same thing. In the NXE dash it gives me a 169.x.x.x address (not getting DHCP).

Here's my J-Runner Log:

The other thing to check would be another ethernet IC, just to rule out hardware faults. Are u using the xbox original retail kv or has it been donored?

Ah, didn't see the part where ultimate360 had already tried another ic. Another possibility could be another component linked to the ic, ie resistor or cap could be damaged. Might be worth testing surrounding components.

Thanx man, I'll break out the multimeter and give it a try. I put a link above with my nand and cpukey if anybody wants to take a look at the image.

Shouldn't be an issue there. I checked those components, and even replaced a few resistors that seemed suspicious, nothing helped. I'm not sure what the deal is, maybe something in the southbridge?
