RGH Jasper - unknown history - only green led blinking at start

Hi,

I'm about to get a Jasper, the console starts but only the middle power button green light flashes and that's it.

Questions:
1. How can I check if the NAND is the original one(after a nanddump)?
2. If it's not the original one, will I be able to RGH her?

A blinking green LED usually means that there is no DVD-ROM connected (if there is, it is probably faulty or has no firmware on).

Open the console up, can you see any attempts of any soldering at all?

Don't have her yet, I'm still thinking if to get her or not, it's around 70 EUR without any accessories.

I say go for it, you have nothing to lose because as I said, you can get things up and running with a donor NAND (providing the console hasn't got a history of RROD or anything).

Worst case scenario, she doesn't have the original NAND, let's suppose that they tried to RGH the console but they didn't succeed, will I ever be able to make her work?

Well, in most instances you can recover a console from a bad RGH attempt.

However, if the board is totally butchered then there isn't much hope .

If you can, try and get some images of the console - inside and out - before you buy, so you know what you are letting yourself in for.

OK, I think I'm gonna buy it, maybe I'll get a lower price. I Already have 2 jaspers, one 16 Mb and another 64 Mb and I could use the NAND from them. Thanx !

Hmmm, even the bad trace(s) aren't as bad as some I've seen. That may or may not give you an idea of how it looks on the bottom, he cleaned up behind himself well. How good are your soldering skills? Personally, I would go for it but I can do ROL led change with a blindfold on. The only thing I would be worried about is, like you said, the state of the Nand. I would find out more about what the seller did to the actual nand image before touching it. Who knows, maybe he ecc'd it for you and just botched the chip install. The nand points look very clean, he may not even have gotten that far. In the end, it's your money and your time. Best of luck!

Thanx !, but I think I'll pass, 70 EUR is too much for that, he won't drop under this amount.
