Just wondering if damaged front USB ports on a phat 360 motherboard, would stop it completely powering up ?
I was passed on this console ( Jasper m/b ) and the guy said that the front USB ports are damaged, when i looked inside the 2x ports, most of brass pins are all bent out of shape,1x or 2x are completely squashed up against the rear of the 2x ports.
I swapped out the R/F board for a known working one and still, the console refuses to boot at all.

yes they will.alot of people dont understand that usb carries 5 volt,so when pins are touching the metal housing or each other, yes it will fail to even power up at all.

Ok,here's an update on this Jasper i've been repairing.
I've replaced the broken front USB ports with fully working ones from a scrap board (Xenon) i also had an issue with the dvd drives tray was out of aligment,so i sorted that as well.
When i tried to power up the console,i was greeted with 3x red lights and secondary error code 0002.So off onto google i went, most threads about this error seemed to be aimed at 2x Mosfets just behind the RF board plugin port on the mobo.
So i took those 2x off the scrap Xenon board and transplanted the one's on this Jasper, tried booting this Jasper again but still had 3x red lights/0002 error.
My next thing i did was just give the board a quick reflow and touch up the front USB ports solder points on the mobo.
This sorted my 0002 error and 3x red lights, the board now powers up perfect.
But now i can't get my wireless controller synced what so ever with this Jasper, both seem to sync, then just no connection what so ever,i've even tried 3x different wireless pads that all work on my own 360 Slim,so i know it's not the game pads too fault.
Is their something on this Jasper mobo that could be damaged or could it be maybe 1x or 2x of the front USB ports pins that could be to fault and might need a bit more attention ?

Anyone have any ideas and help please, that would be awesome

Just bought a brand new play and charge kit and i still can't get a controller working with this Jasper mobo, either on the front USB or the 1x at the rear of the mobo :(

well the wireless signal from the console is in the little plug-in board that has the ring of light on it, i believe. try switching out that with one from another console and see if it works. as for repairing the little board itself, i don't know enough to help.

Is the console fully booting up to dash? If it is, then the problem lies somewhere along the connection lines of the board, or on the RF board. You can try switching it out with another RF module. Maybe one from the Xenon or another spare. If that doesn't solve it, you can try touching the USB ports up a bit but as the console boots, that shouldn't be the issue. Also, does it look like the nand points have been touched? It's possibe it's running the ECC which is why it's not connecting the controllers.
