JASPER Jaspers that don't boot xell, CR4 R-JTAG+

I am getting tired of this, so many jaspers do this same stuff. I'm now down to about a 15% success rate with the CR4 and jaspers... The problems are that they don't boot. They do these: stop glitching after a few cycles, stop at either post 10 or 12 and just keeps glitching endlessly, and some take almost 100 cycles to boot. I'm getting very frustrated with this. I did another one right now only to fail again, so i'm done putting this off and it needs to be fixed. So here is the latest one:

  • Console Type: Jasper 16mb v2 (with kronos gpu)
  • Programmer Used: NAND-X
  • NAND Size: 16
  • Dashboard version: 17150
  • CB Version: 6754
  • J-Runner log: below
  • Images of close-up soldering to motherboard (attached)
  • Detailed Description of the Problem: stops at post 12 after every successful glitch, endless... Tried all dips, caps, qsb jumpers, postbits, nothing helps. This is an ongoing issue with 85% of my jaspers.
  • Works on stock: yes

Please excuse the flux, I left it there because I figured this wouldn't work again and it didn't.

Ive had the same issue but all habe been tits on rgh2+..one to 2 cycles
thats the other issue, the ones that do this to me usually don't work on rgh+ either. Some did, but most don't and just glitch endlessly. How is something like this missed in testing?

thats exactly how it is, it either works or doesn't. But when almost all of them fail, it's unbeleivable. I got my personal Jasper to work a few days ago, none since then

nofelonie - haven't you only had 1 issue?

jligg - you know my train of thought

ultimate - put some science behind it - if you have an rjtag get fullpost logs

I use to have the same exact issue also but with the original R-jtag chip on jaspers. I had to use the non aud_clamp wiring on 90% of jaspers to make them boot.
Might worth a shot if you haven't tried yet.

I apologize in advance if I am talking out of turn but how do you wire non_aud clamp?

I had the same issue with my Jasper 16mb.

Solder the little resistor and bridge pads 1-2 instead

You should'nt have to remove the wire if you already have it.

Or there is DB1F1 and ROL

Just do an image search on google for 'jtag wiring'

Also not sure if it will help but try making the ecc or image without the rjtag selected in jrunner

So if I was doing the transistor method I would just solder the wire that usually goes to Q2N1 regulator to R2P12 resistor?

And I would guess you would still select R-Jtag in J-Runner but not Aud_Clamp?

I've never done transistor without aud_clamp but i guess it should work, but most diagrams I've seen use diodes, so it would be safer to use diodes.

I think the r-jtag check box changes the smc so that it reboots quicker after failed start, so that it can try and glitch again sooner that's what cr4 check box does anyway.

Only use aud_clamp check box if you are using one of the aud_clamp wiring methods

How about you start your own thread instead of ruining a good thread wich could potentially be helping alot of others in the future?

Roger that. I apologize again.

It would be good though if the non Aud-clamp method fixed the problem with the Jaspers that the OP has.
