Jewel LEDs

So, my friend was looking at some jewel mods at school and i got an idea! I want to put some red and blue LEDs in the jewel and have it reflect the status of the X3. (you know, have the blues ones on for when the chip is on and the reds for when the chip is off) now, before I even start to plan this I need to know one thing: would it possible to do this, esp for someone who has not done anything like this before? I've been reading up on xbox-scene on how to mound and power the LEDs but I still need to see if its possible to only light up the different colors at different times to reflect the x3 status.

If anyone feels that this would be WAY too had for a n00b such as myself, pls post and and I will just stick to green or blue.

Cheers,
-Jeff

Far from here!
Since they are not your typical leds, you could run some fiber optics from the chip to your jewel.shouldnt be that hard.

WTF are you talking about??? the status leds are outside the box. and the leds are normal leds, just surface mount. please dont comment on what you dont know about.

First of all watch your f**king mouth to me. I dont flame anyone and dont expect to be flamed either. Second I was just trying to help. Third I apologize but I though you were talking about the leds on the chip itself. I just misread your post.

So get the f**k over it.

 Oh and now that I read it "Properly", Just run them from the original leds.

rh387 if you have a better idea then post it and answer his question instead of flaming

hitechoutlaw, sorry for the misunderstanding!

You could use the same type of l.e.d that is on the modchippanel, with a switch to change the colour.

Its a two colour l.e.d. you can get them from maplins, they don't cost much. Make sure you get a resistor for it though 'cos if you put 3v through it it will blow straight away.

alright, thanks, my friend knows alot about that kinda stuff so he said he would help me out with it. one more question, where could i get the signal that tells it what color to light up, i thought about getting it from the wire that goes to the front pannel and then sending it to something that would then grab power from else where and only light up red/blue/both, i cant remember what my friend called it, unless there is a better place to grab the signal.

Thanks,
-Jeff

I don't know about that, but the modchip's either either enabled or disabled, so it would be easier to just change the switch when you do it on the modchip. In my opinion a HDD l.e.d jewel would be better and more useful than a modchip on/off jewel.

i dunno, i thought it would look cool for the jewel to be different colors when the status of the chips has changed

Your never really going to have the chip disabled 'cos u cant use live with it disabled anyway. (That's what I read on these forums).

i dont know, i guess if i figure out i cant do it i'll just light up the jewl with green or blue, something bright. thanks for the input

edit: i would like to do this so if xecuter (or anyone else) could give me some help on where i could get the signal for the different lights to light up. i would really appreatiate it.

Last known f/w ban?

I havent been on my xbox in awhile and last time I flashed the drive was with the first LT release. I lost my original firmware on a benq. All I got is the modded f/w so I can't flash back to the original for the update. Does anyone know if its safe to do a system update or should I upgrade to lt v1.1? Thanks alot =)

Re: Last known f/w ban?

The last ban was in oct 09, you should update. Re flashing it well be the same you don't need the original with benq or samsung. Updating without wont get you banned any time soon but neither well anything other then j-tagging. However if you want to play it as safe as possible (not that it really matter's imo were most likely all going to be banned either way) you could download original benq fw (I cant find a link and I don't think the admin's would want me to put it up anyway) spoof your key to it ,update then and reflash with 1.1 after the update .
