JUNGLE FLASHER JF cannot find the phat Liteon

I have flashed five phat drives, four Liteon and one BenQ using a X360USB Pro with the Probe III, CK3 Pro and Molex adapter. Not a total noob but I have ran into the first problem I cannot figure out.

I was gifted a pre-flashed phat Liteon last year. It had been updated with dashboard 13146. I am guessing it had been flashed with LT 1.61 (or so) as it would play my pre-AP 2.5 backups. It has been my "back-up" box in case I screwed-up my go-to phat Liteon.

The go-to phat Liteon I updated just days ago to dash 15574 and LT 3.0. No problems with the flash. But the newer truncated XGD3 backups as well as the AP 2.5 backups won't work without reburning, so I decided to update the back-up box to dash 13599 and LT 2.0 to have those backups playable.

The problem I cannot figure out is: I cannot get JF to recognize the back-up Liteon I am trying to update. I'm using the same tools as I did for the go-to Liteon..but
this Liteon cannot be recognized. Why is this?? IDK what the previous owner did to flash this drive, but it looks like some soldering was involved. See the attached photo. Could this have something to do with why the drive is not recognized? The back-up drive DOES work. It plays my retail games just fine.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

just curious, have you tried powering the drive on with the tray on the half open position? I would guess that the damage may be causing the problem though.

Thanx for the suggestion. I wondered if the tray half-open method might work. The "eject" button on the CK3 Pro does not work at all though. Will power the drive with the 360 psu and give that a try.

I really cannot say if the drive is damaged though, as the drive DOES play all my retails just fine, without any issues. Having never soldered a PCB nor having ever seen one, I have no clue as to what constitutes "damaged" though. The fact that the drive is playing retail dvds leads me to believe the drive can still be flashed. Is this not a valid presumption?

Since I have tried everything else, I will try the tray half-open method and see if that does work. Will report back when I have tried it. Thanx again for the suggestion!!

I would assume the drive is still able to be flashed I am just wondering if it could be damaged in a way that the xbox doesn't mind but the pc does when communicating the ID String info, even though the xbox still reads retails fine. I would still think there's a way though, since it still works.

I think I can guess why it was gifted to you. Do you have the DVD key? If so you could just pickup another drive and flash it.
