resolder that green wire. looks like its not getting a good connection
its soldered through the board and has perfect continuity. ive been soldering 25+ years as an electrical technician, however, if you have vast experience of xboxs and feel any of my connections may be suspect then i will resolder.

I would get a meter and check your connections from the board to the J-R Pv2.

I'm assuming the console is booting up ok at the moment?
hi martin, yes console boots ok. tested each point 1-6 from mainboard through to back of connector on J-R Pv2 and all good and no shorts. im now feeling it is the netbook, ill try with real computer as soon as i can and report back.

thank you all for your support

thats the only thing i can see that might be wrong in your photos
i did doubt my soldering but de-soldered, re-soldered twice as i read that solder joints were the main cause of errors. may still be my problem but i feel it is unlikely.

I recently have the same situation as OP, exact same issue with jrp v2, then connected nandx and it read, write fine, but with jrp v2 would give same error. Thank god I still had my nandx, so if you have another reader such as nandx try that and see to confirm wiring is good.

still can't get jrp v2 to work even though process as OP suggested is exactly what I did as well. If I get it working ill comment.

great news, now got it working and on 4th nand read. i have changed a few things and will do some eliminating so i can pin point where i was going wrong. things i changed were;

win 7 netbook to xp desktop
usb cable
other switch on JRP V2 (not bl switch)
flashed JRP V2 another couple of times

good news is i have CB 5771, now to install coolrunner.

what a bl00dy ordeal this is! swapped back to netbook to rule that out, never worked, swapped back to working setup with desktop and didn't work again. after a great deal of cursing i decided to get my calibrated ohm meter out and do some xbox mainboard to JRP V2 continuity checks, failed on the brown wire and traced to a bad solder joint on the SPI connector on the JRP. board now repaired and reading nand consistently.

Almost the same as my problem with a Corona v5. I got it to read nand 2x and compare. Since then the programmer has been dodgy connecting and then not connecting irradically. Guess i better check my programmer for a bad solder joint. It's been a headache for me everything else seems to check out other then i haven't done a continuity check on it yet.

i had checked continuity between xbox and pins on back of SPI socket on JRP but never expected bad solder joint on JRP board itself

You wouldn''t happen to remember what solder joint was bad on the programmer would ya? They all look ok on my board but would be interested in the point that was a problem on yours.

And another old thread taken from the archives. Craigdriver hasn't been active on this forum since October 2013, so doubt u will get a reply.

If they look OK they probably is OK, you should be able to see if they are faulty or cracked (at least if you know how to solder). Old inactive thread, why not start your own instead? Oh yeah you have one, stay with it then.
