RGH Jr Programmer v2 Not Found

I recently purchased the cool runner rev c and jr programmer v2 for my phat falcon, including the nandx qsbs.

The issue I am having is with the jr programmer.

Initially I plugged the jr programmer into my laptop and the hardware manager appeared to confirm it was installing the drivers for the jr programmer. This finished successfully, unfortunately I did not check device manager at this point to confirm it was under processors. At this point the light was a solid green.

I soldered the two qsbs for reading the nandx to my xbox motherboard and then plugged the cables from the qsbs into the jr programmer, then I plugged in the xbox power and did not switch the console on, I then plugged the usb from the jr programmer to my laptop and chose read nand and selected falcon. The output screen in jrunner simply said manually selected falcon and nothing further happened. I touched up the soldering and followed the same procedure a few times (I am running as administrator).

After a few failed attempts I did some digging and I am unable to see the jr programmer in device manager under processors. In fact I am unable to see it under any section, no devices appear with exclamations or question marks. The usb does not make a sound when it is plugged in and when plugging the device in when looking at the device manager screen, the screen does not refresh as you would expect when introducing new hardware. Effectively it is not being seen at all.

I have since plugged it into two further pcs and the driver has not been installed this time, unlike when I first plugged it in and it was acknowledged.

Throughout the jr programmer light has always been green solid. The switch on the side with the reset button is pushed away from the rest button and similarly the switch on the other side of the board (I am not sure what this is), is pushed away from the usb.

I read about potentially resetting the device and updating the firmware in jrunner, I understand the file necessary is PICFLASH_E_1_0_5-JRP-V2.HEX and I have located this. I flicked the switch towards the reset button and then pressed the reset and the light went red. I flicked the switch back away from the reset, plugged the jr programmer into the laptop and attempted to update the firmware, however the message simply says device not found.

I can't seem to find any other information that pushes me any further forward hence the question so if anyone can point me in the right direction or give me some more ideas of what to try I would greatly appreciate it.

Leave it plugged up and reboot the pc. Then see if it shows in device manager. If your running Win 8 or x64 OS, try booting with F8 and disable driver enforcement.

Ok I have ripped my house apart and found another cable. Plugged this in and the device is recognised and in device manager, albeit without drivers but that's the easy part. So it certainly seems like the cable was the issue, although as mentioned it did work at the start which is a pain.
I'll certainly make a note of zadig/driver enforcement in case of future issues, so many thanks scott1503, slayertex6 for your answers.
I'll continue along the path, false alarm and that my friends is why I'm only allowed to post in the noob section.
