I wouldn't advise you to do this, it probably won't work and if the console stopped working then your pretty much %£%£3 as you don't even have a NAND-X or any other method of writing to the NAND.

Try compiling another copy of freeboot using your dumped XBR & CPU key again first.

You install fsd 2.0 just like installing fsd 1.08. I just kept a copy of the config.xml and replaced the one in fsd2.0 Do you have the freestyle folder on the ms hdd or on your external drive?Assuming that you have your freestyle folder on the root of a MS hdd then follow this,

unrar the dashlaunch v2.01 rar and grab the installer folder and place on a usb stick, not on the root of your hdd. Then make sure that your freestyle folder is on the root of your hdd and that the xex inside is named default. If so use this for your launch.ini file

[QuickLaunchButtons]
BUT_A =
BUT_B =
BUT_X =
BUT_Y =
Default = Hdd:\Freestyle\default.xex
[Settings]

Then place this launch.ini on the root of your hdd.

Insert your usb stick and launch the default.xex inside the installer folder with xexmenu. Follow the onscreen prompts

press a to install dashlaunch
This will write the launch.xex and the ihelper.xex to the flash.

press a to update. This will update the launch.ini found on the root of the hard drive.

It will then ask you to change the settings, press a to say yes and choose the setup you want. I choose yes to all the options execpt "do you want the console to freeze on fatal errors". Press a to shutdown.

Remove the usb stick and turn on your console. If it doesnt autoboot into fsd then check the launch.ini on the root of the hdd. you will have to copy it onto a usb stick and open it in notepad. The first time i tried this it didnt update my launch.ini file properly and it only showed the settings and not quicklaunchbuttons .

Theres no need to create a new freeboot image.

No it wont erase your external drive, if your worried then just unplug for your own peace of mind. I would delete the current fsd and reinstall the new fsd 2.0, keep a copy of your config.xml though as it has all your paths.

also do i need to have my external hard drive partioned to put xblc on the external hard drive?
I dont think so, tbh im not 100% sure as I dont use a external drive, I have a toshiba 750gb internal drive in the MS caddy.

those directions are wrong casuse i can't ftp into my xbox when i am on fsd 2.0.
They are the install instructions from the dashlaunch readme

Put the freestyle folder and the launch.ini on the root of the Ms hdd.

first thing on my dash is there is no ip address on the screen and my back button dont work to bring up a menu.
You have to click in the right thumbstick to bring up the status bar on screen. This will give you the ip address. The back button no longer works on fsd 2.0.

while in fsd 2.0 some of the icons say disabled for alpha what does that mean?
The reason for this is as fsd2.0 is only a alpha release they have disabled some of the functions to allow it to run more stable.

another thing is that it dont pick up my hard drive
Have you edited the paths in the fsd2config.xml?

Youve not enter your paths in the fsd2config file properly. Try using this one below, this will allow your hdd to be detected.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<config>
<locale>en-US</locale>
<paths>
<!-- Retail and devkit attributes are used to configure the tab on which
the title is displayed if it is a retail or devkit executable.

<path retail='360' devkit='360'>hdd1:\games</path>
<path retail='360' devkit='360'>hdd1:\Content\0000000000000000</path>
<path retail='' devkit=''>hdd1:\video\</path>
<path retail='' devkit=''>hdd1:\Content\0000000000000000</path>
<path retail='' devkit=''>hdd1:\Games\</path>

<path retail='' devkit=''>hdd1:\Emulators\</path>

Make sure your launch.ini file on the root of the internal hdd has the correct path.

[QuickLaunchButtons]
BUT_A =
BUT_B =
BUT_X =
BUT_Y =
Default = Hdd:\Freestyle\default.xex
[Settings]
nxemini = true
pingpatch = true
Also look inside the freestyle folder and make sure that the xex inside is called default.xex and not freestyle.xex In the FSD2 Alpha Upd1.2 rar its called default.xex, as all updates will be in the future. The release before its called freestyle.xex
