im having problems with my dvd drive sometimes when i power on i get one red light in the lower right of the ring. when it does power on every thing works fine. once i put in a xgd3 game like battlefield 3 the screen goes black and the system locks up. i used coolshrimps jtag tool to flash my nand and i think i had the dvd toggle turned off by mistake. my xbox is a zepher running the 13599 dash. any help or suggestions would make my day thanks.

Zephyrs are notorious for doing this. Make sure you have the original drive model in your console (spoofed drives do not play the new XGD3 games).

Also, create and flash a new NAND and be sure the 'No DVD Fix' option is selected. Dont worry, even with this option selected, your DVD drive will still work.

If this does not fix it, I was told (when doing my zephyr with similar problems) to attempt to use the 9199 dash. Once the 9199 dash is confirmed to be working correctly, upgrade to the current dash.

I used the team xecuter qsb and soldered the yellow wire to the spot on the front board with the power button.

it sounds like u have 2 issues not one, a wireing issue wich might b as simple as the wrong switch setting on the qsb, and it also seems to escape people that freeboot doesnt update dvd fw, the only way to get a jtag to play a "new" retail game is to manualy update the OFW on the dvd drive to a POST 131 fw, because were not havein "ms" do it we have to flash them by hand, on a Side note, if u have a drive of the same model/make with lt 2.0 or soemthing on it, u can use xellous to set the key via http interface
