Hi guys, i have Just Jtag'd a late falcon and everything seemed ok but........

It booted to 3 rlod secondary error 0020, i knew the people who had this box from new and it was hardly used and had never been opened, i stripped it down and reflowed the board on my IR set up, relaced x-clamps and it booted up ok and played fine for an hour, turned it off and back on and the 0020 error again.:(

I tried it this morning and it had the error but i have it on and running fine now.

Could this be that i need to use a different Jtag points for better reliability? i used DB1F1 and the ring of light.

If anyone can shed light on this or give me any advice i'd very much appreciate it.

How long does it take to RRoD?

Best guess here is the GPU itself is failing.

If it shows 3 red lights they show on boot within seconds, but when it boots it runs fine, no graphic problems or anything.
It ran very well before Jtagging so i though maybe alternative jtag point may help.
I looked on Xbox experts (no offence intended) and they said remove wires if jtagged see link:

Remember that the points used in a JTAG console (TDI and TMS) go to the GPU and are not points usually addressed by a retail console. If it's intermittent when JTAGed but works fine when running the stock NAND, it's the GPU which is at fault.

I'm gonna try using alternative jtag points on this xbox, i figure i have nothing to loose by trying anyway if GPU is on its way out....1/2 hour time and a little bit of effort.
As this console is already Jtagged, do i need to reflash to stock nand, swap jtag point and reflash selecting the alternative points used?
Let me know your thoughts and i will post back my results.

Thanks

I have tried to attach pics.
If not present follow this link: http://photobucket.com/jtagproblem

Ok, so i have remove the original jtag points from my falcon and followed the pics from M azeem K guide on here for alternative smc points, great tut too!!

As advised by martin c above, i simply built a freeboot nand using my original nand and flashed the nand for these points and it seems to be ok, now the test of time.

One thing i think may have been the problem.... the DB1F1 came away without desoldering when the ROL drop by acciden and hung from it, so maybe just poor solder here on my behalf:eek:.

Thanks martin for any advice
