So I purchased a re flowed xbox from a guy on ebay that had dash 6683 on it and It workes just fine. I took it apart then I removed the xclamp fix and reapplied thermal paste. He applied white paste and I replaced it with arctic silver. After that I put he heatsyncs back on and tested it to make sure it still works and when I turned it on I got e73. I put some for pressure on the heat syncs maybe to fix it but then I got e74 1 rrod. I cant get it to boot no matter what I try I tried origanal xclamps and tried changing the tension of the xclamp fix screws with no luck. Did He just do a bad reflow because the solder balls should not be that brittle. I was already thinking of buying a Aoyue 852a++ Rework station and a griddle to reflow broken xbox 360s. Should I just wait until I get that or is there something else I can try. I dont under stand How just removing the heat syncs and re installing them could cause rrod so easily why did this happen. NEver has e73 again but has e74

No its a indecater of it needs a reball or reflow. My older xbxo had the same thing and I got it refloiwed and it worked after that. The system was barley used

but that does not make any sense since the xbox is bacicly brand new and it broke only when I removed the heatsync which probably broke a solder ball. I have had e74 before and a reflow fixed it since like 3 years ago

I cipied this from bga mods
E74 - 1022 - Cold solder joint under GPU/Dead GPU - GPU REFLOW/REBALL/REPLACE GPU
It might be that sometimes its a broken gpu but most of the time its a cold solder joint

Reflowing doesnt make it practically brand new. It's highly reasonable to assume it needed a reflow AND also has GPU issues.

Ok wel thanks anyway I have bean messing around with the heatsynss pressure and now I get 3rrod. I will just try to reflow with a rework station and if that does not work Ile get a new gpu

I personally think that reflowing E74 GPUs is like duct taping your car, it works for a while but it's not the right thing to do.

I have another good question where the xbox was re flowed the caps near it are bulging on top. Almost all of them. The Xbox was booting even when these were like this but Should I replace them anyways,

wow I did not realize that a preballed leaded gpu is only 8 bucks
Those cheap GPUs have a high failure rate. out of three maybe one works, two if you are real lucky. And chances are that they will be reballed E74 GPUs and will fail again shortly after.
