JTAG JTAG'ed XENON temperatures

Hi,

I just performed a JTAG on a XENON XBOX360.

I have some quick questions:

1. I thought it was an OPUS(no HDMI) because of the manufacturing date(09.2007). The MOBO was "virgin" when I extracted the NAND(no one had done anything to it ever) and yes, the 360 Flashtool gave me: XENON (rev.1.0) from 09.2007. Was Microsoft still making XENONS at that time?

2. The CPU temperature, when idle, is around 80 degrees Celsius, GPU and MEM temps are between 40-50 degrees celsius. Any ideas how to drop the CPU temperature? I also read that it could be a flaw with temp reading sensors. I don't want to use the fans at 100% since the noise is very bothering. I took temps from FSD with FAN set to auto.

Thanx in advance.

you probably broke the thermal paste seal between the cpu and heatsink (especially if you pulled the board out of the cage by the heatsink), you should put on new thermal paste

I just replaced the thermal paste with a new one and I know I'm not supposed to take out the board by the heatsinks. Last option will be the FAN mod. I'll give that a try to see how much the temp will drop

I mentionet that the temps were read from FSD.

It will but at the cost of being louder.

since you have FSD just go in to the Setup/settings/system settings/fan settings.

Thanx, I know how to set the fans from FSD, only that the noise is very bothering. I opened the thread because I needed to know if there are any other fixes for that.

The extra FAN is a viable solution too.

What about the FAN shroud mod? Anybody tried that?

I have a JASPER CPU heatsink, should I try to replace the XENON one(the one with heatpipe)?

How can I know that the sesor reading the temperature is broken? --> I changed the thermal paste, I know that the contact of the heatsink with the CPU is OK, I already changed the GPU heatsink with a FALCON one(the one with 2 radiators and pipe). The air comming from the back of the XBOX is not HOT at all, is warm to say so.

You could always throw some talismoon whisper fans in there instead of the stock black ones.

That helps out with temps a bit. You might also want to make sure your CPU heatsink is making good contact with the chip. If you still have the x-clamps in place, they might be a little loose. Try moving the heatsink carefully when the console is off and see if it feels loose at all.

Try a whisper talismoon, they work well IMO.

I also put an 14cm fan across 2x alu heatsinks on my xenon with a talismoon exhaust. Its all pretty much silent and temp on CPU: 70, GPU: 50

i found on my jtag xenon higher temps so i fitted the xecuter rrod kit and also i found when i changed the settings in fsd the noise from the normal m/soft fans sounded loud so i fitted the tallismoon fan and my temps dropped right down also its alot quieter now ,was going to do the 12v mod but decided against it .

Thanx guys, I did the Fan Shroud mod and the temps dropped with 2-3 degrees. Anyway, as someone said, I'll get a new one and I'll sell this one. Topic can be closed

You can RGH most consoles out now. I would keep the jtag in case (the new updates that messed with the cb had no effect on jtags)
