I have my DG-16D4S 1071 drive working with Jungleflasher, but it can't seem to identify my flash. I have extracted my keys and can enter vendor mode without issue. But when I go to the MTK Flash 32 tab, this is what I see after entering vendor mode.

Code:
Serial Flash found with Status 0x72

Sending Device ID request to port 0x01F0
Spi Status: 0x01
Manufacturer ID: 0x90
Device ID: 0x90
Flash Name: Unknown type
Flash Size: n/a
Is there a solution for this? Thank you.

Strange....

I assume you have tried sending the Intro command again?
I wanted to avoid using the Xbox 360 to power the drive because I wanted to avoid any flagging by the system that my drive was disconnected when it was powered on. So I soldered power from a SATA power cable (12V, 5V, 3.3V, GND) directly to the DG-16D4S DVD power connector bumps on the PCB. Unfortunately this does make it a bit klunky to get into vendor mode. Seems the only reliable way I have seen is to reboot my PC, have the drive off, start Jungleflasher and then turn the drive on. That works 100% of the time.

Out of curiosity, what state should the Eject and ModeB pins (pins 3 and 4) be? Their default level is 3.3V. Switching them to GND activates them (e.g. switching the Eject line to ground ejects the dvd tray). Is the half open tray thing all about getting the drive into a particular state? Because I could just solder the Eject and ModeB lines directly to the correct levels (3.3V or GND) depending on what it needs to be.

Got it! I had to solder both Eject and ModeB (pins 3 and 4) to GND. I'm certainly not doing this the conventional way, but it seems to work. Next step is to Kamikaze hack it.

OK, well maybe it was that, maybe it wasn't but I was able to read my Flash type, though it isn't 100% of the time. Seems the timing is important, as sometimes it gets it, sometimes it doesn't.

But anyways, I started the Kamikaze hack. And it got to a point where the status did go to 0x00 and I heard the beep. But when I tried to read my Flash it gave me an error 0x80. I restarted my PC and started again. Now when Jungleflasher reports my drive as "DVD Key: Not found". Is this something to be concerned about? Also, SPI status is 0x8c. I'm concerned that it was somehow unlocked but incorrectly reporting 0x8c still, so I don't want to proceed much more and damage the IC.

well i think it's too late for that. I continued to apply the kamikaze hack since it was still reporting spi status of 0x8c (locked) but that was probably not such a good idea. Chances are though something was already amiss given that I had already heard the beep that it was unlocked. Stopped and then tried reading my firmware, but it said status 0x80. Oh well, time to buy a replacement PCB.
