Hey Blakey, yea I have tried about 5-6 different SATA cables, all producing the same result. I spent about another hour trying to get it to show up again. Constantly unplugging, plugging back in, changing usb ports, changing usb cables, changing SATA cables. Nothing seems to be working, I just can't get the drive to be detected. I contacted the merchant where I purchased the x360usb pro, and asked if I could get a replacement, i'm just not totally convinced that this is even what the problem is. The only other thing on my mind is that this 360 was serviced by microsoft for RROD, could they have done something to the drive that's making it not be able to be detected? I'm a first timer so I'm totally lost with what to do next. Thanks.

I'm assuming the drive still works on the console?

When you connected the PC DVD drive, did you do it with JF closed? If so, Device Manager should have added it for use (and should work as a normal drive). If this happens, you're eliminating WINAPI and the issue might be with portio.

Yea, the drive works perfectly fine inside the console, games load without a hitch. Yea JF wasn't open when I first connected the PC DVD drive, and windows did detect it and let me use it. So if the issue is with portio, then it's a x360usb issue since it handles all of that itself yea? Thanks again for all of the replies.

Unfortunately this seems to be how all of these threads end, nobody really has a clue what's going on...and I don't blame ya. I'll sending in for an exchange to see if that gives new results. Thanks anyway.

So for kicks, I hooked everything back up when I got home just now...and it detected the drive. Unfortunately when I clicked PhatKey it says no drive was detected again, and now it won't read it again.

Ok so even more development...I've discovered if I hook everything up really fast, open JF..it gets detected, and I can click PhatKey and everything. I've probed the drive, gotten extraction complete messages, but now JF is freezing up on the final step to get the dummy.bin file.

I strongly disagree. Only a certain amount of help can be given on any post.without a person actually going to someones house then some problems cant be solved thats why I private messaged you.pressing the reset button might help or it might not but its just advice and wont hurt to try

Sorry Meads, it wasn't meant to be anything personal towards you guys that help on here, you guys are awesome. I'm just saying for my problem..i've searched and searched and usually when people have had the same problem it just went unsolved. To update you guys, I GOT IT TO WORK!!!! The method of just doing it EXTREMELY fast worked, I was able to obtain my dummy.bin file. Thanks for all the help.
