just a quick question

I have just installed a x3 into a v1.6

when i booted it came up with the flash bios screen

now my question is this
the flash bios screen says Version 3.0.0

from reading the forums it is to my understanding that v1.6's need
flash bios v3.0.3 to work

is this correct ???

because i tried to flash the chip and now it frags
i can still get to the other banks and their flash bios screen (all are version 3.0.0 by the way )

could being version 3.0.0 be the reason for this happening

ps. when it was sold to me it never came with the 1.6 recovery board
and the supplier was suprised that it didnt have one with it ,could he have got a shipment of chips not compatible with 1.6's hence not needing the recovery

it looks like you flashed it with the wrong bios , you can boot the flashbios 3.0.0 and flash one of the other banks you shouldnt have any problem there . the reason you didnt get the lpc rebuilt is bacause you probobly got a chip from an old shipment , you can use it on a 1.6 no problem there .
just make sure you flash it with a 1.6 bios !!!

Def sounds like a bad flash.

as long as you have a copy of FlashBIOS which works (ie you get a display), you don't need to update it.

Did you solder the rebuild wires yourself since there was no rebuild PCB?

Haines, if you are flashing the latest bios onto your X3, make sure to use the file named X3 3029 v16plus.bin.

Secondly, flashbios 3.0.0 will work just fine with your v1.6 xbox. It's v1.6b that requires flashbios 3.0.3.

in your case I would do one of 2 things. First, I would try to reflash to your current banks with switches on [on on off off off]. Press power and eject buttons until your X3 cp turns purple and that should bring up backup flashbios. Then you flash as you did prior but with the mentioned bios above. Alternatively, you can just flash into the other 1mb bank [off on off off off].

If you recently bought your X3, it does sound very unusual that you don't have the LPC rebuild pcb. Even so, why would they sell you a non-CE version since X3CE is the latest unless they are selling the chips off for cheap to clear their inventory.

how do i know if i have a v1.6b ??

and i did try to reflash with the v16plus bios and no it dont want to load at all
it just tries to load three times and then frags
same with the backup flash bios it frags also

ive checked the install (i did end up getting the rebuild board sent to me as the supplier had no idea they didnt have one in the package ) nothing obvious that i can see there



and how do i identify if the chip is a X3CE version or not ??

oh i flashed it with version X3_1959 first time then X3_1959_v16plus

You don't have a 1.6b (1.6b has Hynix RAM) as you saw FlashBIOS 3.0.0.

Boot to FlashBIOS
Set switches to on on off off off.
Flash your 1959 v16plus.
Boot Xbox and it should work!

ok i finally got it
i decided to pull it all apart again and recheck all points with a multi meter
and i found that the grey do wire was not making a conection in the little white plus on the x3 , so a quick rewiring of the do wire,flashed with new version bios and alls good

always the little things that drive ppl to drink (had me buggered why it would work then wouldnt )
