Burned game being read as DVD

Hi Guys,

My apologies if this has been covered already. Tried a search for this topic but no dice so here it goes. Picked up a used previously flashed arcade console with 3 ring problem. I have corrected the 3 ring issue and burned a couple of games with ImgBurn. When I power on the system and insert the game the console wants to play it as a DVD. It does this with both games Ive burned. When burning the games I get no errors so I think Im doing that correctly. Im not sure as to which drive I have and I REALLY dont want to disassemble it a 3rd time. Any ideas and help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Burned game being read as DVD

When you get the play as DVD msg it means that your drive has the wrong DVD Key for that system since the system and DVd Drive are Married to each other if you don't have the original DVD Key then what you have there is a Nice Dvd Player. The only way to fix that is either 1) Get original Key from Person you bought system from. 2) Dump the NAND on the MB to get the DVD Key but to do that you need to have a console that has a Kernal below 8xxx like 7037 or somthing goto system Properties and at the bottom it will say K: and what ever your Kernal is. If you don't have a kernal below 8 then their is nothing you can do and u just bought yourself a nice DVD Player. Hope you didn't pay too much for it?

Re: Burned game being read as DVD

in the system info area I see something like this:

D:2.0.8507 K:2.0.8507

is this the info you were referring to?

Re: Burned game being read as DVD

Yep your Console is not hackable to dump the NAND so if you can't get the Original DVD Key your 360 will never play games again. it will be just a DVD Player. Like i said hope you didn't pay too much for that DVD Player.

Re: Burned game being read as DVD

lol Im sorry Jack. It seems that this system is an unmodded console. The drive plays regular 360 games. That being said, I need to flash the drive to play burned games. With the system not being modded is there a way to access the keys since they are the original ones?

Re: Burned game being read as DVD

LOLOLOL It being unmodded makes all the difference :) What brand of DVD Player is it? BenQ,Hitachi,Samsung or Liteon? To read and flash you'll need a few things like Jungle Flasher and a few other things goto Jungleflasher.net and Download 1.73 and the Tutorials. That will help you.

Also what's the Manufacture date on the back of the system shell?

Re: Burned game being read as DVD

I know I know, I deserved to be flamed as a uber noob. Here is the info on the console... Samsung Drive, mfr date: 10-18-2006. Ive been reading up a lil on flashing. Is it absolutely necessary to have a VIA chipset? I build gaming rigs so I try to use more up to date parts. My MB is a Zotac 780i with triple SLI. I believe I have an available SATA port to use. Again, thanks for your patience.

Re: Burned game being read as DVD

You can try and plug a SATA cable into each of your SATA Ports while it's connected to your MB and see if Windows detects it if it doesn't you'll need a VIA 6421A Raid Controller Card about 15.00 look on EBAY or Amazon. Also it's just easier using the Controller Card.

Re: Burned game being read as DVD

Yes it can I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit you have to disable Driver Signing and put W7 in test Mode When i boot the computer i press F5 then F8 and scroll down to disable Driver Enforcement then hit enter and that will let Jungle Flasher Install Portio64 which u need for flashing.

ok I read that in the jungle flasher tutorial. Just waiting for the VIA card and a power connector then I will give it the ol college try.
