Hello!

I bought a xbox 360 chipped with no history. I don't know what type of chip I have. When I boot it up it starts Freestyle 3. From what I can see it hasn't been updated since 2010, I guess I need to update it to play the latest games?

According to the FAQ I should install PortIO32 from the Downloads page, but I can't find it.

I'm grateful if someone could give me any pointers.
What chip do I have? Do I need to open the console to physically check?

Best regards

there is no way of telling what chip Is installed without physically checking the inside of the console. crack the baby up and post a picture if you are unsure of whats installed.

but yes you would need to update you can do this by reading the update section of the jrunner pdf

You can read nand with simple nand flasher via freestyle dash, get the cpukey via booting to xell. Then you can open that nand in jrunner and get all the info and update your hacekd dash. You dont need to open the console.

true but one of the questions above was

What chip do I have? Do I need to open the console to physically check?
to my knowledge without having xray vision you will have to open the console to physically check

Oh yes. For chip he needs to open the console. But if it still boots fine after a long time it must be a TX product :D :D
agreed as long as it still boots after an update then he wouldn't require to open the console

Check out the J-Runner PDF manual. You'll have to create a retail NAND from what you have before you can do anything. I also recommend you get an SPI NAND flasher such as a JR Programmer.

Ok thanks for all the help, I haven't really got the terminology yet. I looked in the j-runner pdf, seems like I have steep learning curve to figure this out.

I installed Simple NAND flasher. It say:
"Attempting to grab CPUKey...
Syscall return value: 0x1
! ERROR: Incompatible Dashlaunch version detected! Use XeLL instead!"

So I make a dump of the NAND and then use it in jrunner? So I only need to know what chip it has if a update fail?
Can I use both NAND flasher and xell to make a dump? Seems like Xell is some sort of tftp service, going to read about it.

Thank you for your effort helping me!

Started Xell and it stated: dg-16d4s. Anyhow I will stop here until I know what I'm doing, don't want to brick it.

Saw a sticker on the device with the company name that has chipped it, called them and they said that it was RGH Jtag. But they couldn't say what manufacture of the chip (Don't know if that matters?).

If all you're after is updating the dash you dont need to open it or boot to xell or any of those things. Do a google search for JRunner Xebuild update server. Note, you will need to make sure you read up on launch.ini and dashlaunch so you are sure you have the settings you want.

Jrunner can read your consoles info, create an updated image for you and write it over your network. Like I said, it does require you reading and making sure you understand what you're doing or you could end up bricking your console which would require a nand reader/writer to fix.

look forward to your response :)

According to others I'm not forced to open it to achieve what I want. No I haven't opened it, so I don't know what manufacture it is.

Well, the problem is that this is a TX product support forum, not general xbox support forum. If there is another chip inside the console beside the TX product you cannot get support. Thats why nightowl asked for a chip picture.

according to the TX forum, you need to show that you are asking for help with a TX product

stop wasting everyone's time and post pics of your chip if you continue to want help
