just got a xenon now i want to jtagor rghit very old dash

i have just got a xenon xbox 360 on a old dash the origonal dash now i want to j-tag or rgh it

any help as to what hardware i need (the chip and any qsb's ) and a tutorial would be good.

By "an old dashboard", you mean 7371 or below right?

In which case, all you would need is a NAND-X as the retail kit contains everything you need to perform the JTAG hack on your console.

Of course, you will also need the mandatory soldering items (iron, flux, solder etc).

pre 7371 do a good old jtag, anything newer forget it, the rgh on xenons is purely for recovering drive keys as its far to unstable for anything else

You can JTag a box for about $5. If you are doing multiple consoles, a NAND-X would be a great idea.

I've used a homemade LPT cable to read/write the NAND and have done 6 consoles. Never let me down.

Keep in mind, only do this if you have a PC with a built in LPT port. If not, this method is more hassle than its worth.

Cheapest route without making a homemade LPT cable would be a USB SPI flasher or similar alternative. Not bashing the nand-x, but for a one time use it would be an expensive venture. Hit up VGCRepairs.biz and give them a call. they will tell you what you need. Good luck!

Not to be a killjoy but if you don't use a nand x you won'tl get support here. Any other product and you will have to look elsewhere for support. You won't even get support for an LPT cable here. A good jtag console is worth the 30 quid for a nand-x anyway and you will always be able to connect it to the console easily if you use the QSBs that are included.

Keep the console in good nick and the nand-x handy in case of any bad flashes and you will enjoy a jtag console for many moons.

As for the question of jtag or rgh. There is no question jtag is the only option rgh for the xenon does not have a solution to boot to dashboard and never will.

If the consoles dashboard is 7371 or lower and the cb is not patched you can jtag the console.

If you buy a nand x it comes with a full jtag kit and nand x qsb's. Nand x is the fastest most economical buy esspecialy if your going to jtsg since it comes with the parts and you only have to buy one thing. (Unless you want freeboot on a seperate nand).

Acctually i did alittle research and i found rgloader, which im pretty sure does the same thing as freeboot but for rgh.

thanx for the help guys but im about to dis-own the kids i just got in from graft to find them playing xbox nothing unusual about that you might think but after a double take i relised that they were using the xenon ........f***kin online yes thats right they updated the console .........
