i recently exchanged my matrix glitchers for coolrunners, because of an awful stability problem that seemed to be a standard problem with the matrix glitchers

well, i had built my own lpt jtag programming cable using the gligli schematic, and it had always worked perfect for programming the matrix glitchers, using xilinx labtools impact

however, i'm trying to program my first coolrunner, and every time i try to initialize chain, it gives me an error and tells me there may be a problem with the power source. i use a connectivity kit to power the coolrunner, the same one i use to power the drives i flash]

i already checked the power source, and it's confirmed 3.3 volts. i've resoldered over and over, and checked all connections. is there a setting i'm not aware of that's specific for the coolrunner when using labtools? any help would be greatly appreciated, as my progress is at a standstill until i get this figured out.

well, i just saw that you guys don't support home made lpt cables. it'd be great if anybody had any input before this thread gets closed. thanks.

Yah it is a really a hit or miss with those schametics. In all honestly buy a lpt programming cable, it will save you ALOT of hassles. I think vgc and xconsoles have them going for 12 something.

The switch on the CoolRunner needs to be set on 'nor' not 'prog' (red and green lights will be on when blank), then program. Once programed the green light will go off and red light will stay on (when powered)

Hmm. the red light is only on when i power it. i already tried both normal mode and program mode. i'm installing labtool on my other computer now, to see if it makes a difference.

Alright so it's doing the same thing on this computer. i get one red light, no green lights at all. i don't understand.

alright, i got it! i switched to this computer then tried the "normal" mode and it programmed. thanks errybody.
