Hi all, im a new member but not new to modding and the likes.

I just thought i would share some knowledge with fellow members the story goes like this!!!

I was sent a 1.6b crystal x-box to repair after customer attempted to fit a x3, so after repairing two missing pads and a missing track it booted up normally (chip or lpc mod not fitted) to m$dash.

Went ahead with lpc and chip install and it fragged??? wouldnt even load to flash bios (yes i tried both versions!) checked all connections perfect?
After a little prodding arround i discovered the problem, the point encircled was the culprit,

where the customer had cleaned up the pad with a fibre glass pencil they had removed the coating from the tracks next to the pad so when the lpc mod was fitted the bottom of the lpc mod was shorting the track out, lifted the mod slightly with a piece of cardboard underneath resoldered the point and all is sweet!!!

Just though this may help someone out as it had my baffled for a while!!!

Top forum and lots of advice when you search for it!!

Re: Hitachi drives help???

The hitachi needs to be flashed in a windows based program and has to be recognised like a normal DVD-ROM drive you would have on your PC.

Alot more vulnerable to 'bricking'

Re: Hitachi drives help???

yes the guide should walk you through how. if you want you can also you toolbox to flash hitachis. either way you'll need to use slax first then run the appropriate program per you drive version. if you have a v79 you need to run a special audio disc to unlock it. all of which should be covered in the tutorial.
