Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

Actually it doesnt matter if you take out your hdd, the game data(crc's bad rip and dodgy game data)is recorded to the 360's nand chip which automatically sends info to microsoft when you connect to live.
after playing a dodgy rip or patched wave 4 to 3 i suggest you play at least 10 other games to clear the data

Do you have a source that can 100% confirm this?

http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/xbox-360-support/153824-information-banning-and-prevent.html

Will unplugging my ethernet cord and/or hard drive protect me form being banned?

-No. Contrary to popular belief, lack of an internet connection or save device does not save you from the hammer of Microsoft.

It was discovered and confirmed well over a year ago that, while it performs a reduced number of checks (PFI, DMI, SS, Capacity, etc.) when not connected to XBL, the system does in fact record violations offline and has a mechanism for transmitting that data upon the next connection to XBL. This type of data is not stored on the HDD, but rather in non-volatile system memory (NVRAM). As such, for non-stealth discs, it's strongly recommended neither to play, nor even to have the disc sitting in the drive, when connected*or* offline from XBL. Disc checks are performed periodically even if you're just sitting in the dash/etc, and not actually playing the game. With the offline recording of system violations, even being disconnected from XBL or having your network cable unplugged doesn't serve as any form of ban-proofing.

That said, make sure your games are stealth-checked with abgx360!

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

^^^ Well, thanks for that link. Although it says playing offline with no hard drive isn't safe, it's really not confirmation. I guess until I see an MS employee verify how they catch you, it's all gonna be hearsay to me.

I was hoping someone could confirm it with a little more solid of a source. But, that was an interesting read none the less. Thanks.

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

Why does every thread I post turn into a bunch of replies that don't matter and have nothing to do with the topic? Will this get me banned? People read the post it very plainly says this method is for people who are banned already or who don't care about live. This method is changing the video partition of the game one of the things Microsoft it is said can very plainly see. So yes this will get you banned. As for all the talk of how they tell really no one has a clue. Like you all have seen no one has any idea all they do is repeat the same uninformed bull they read off some 11 year olds web blog. Oh its the nand! oh its the nvram! blah blah blah blah. My theory here it goes ..is when you plug your xbxox into the wall outlet for power it sends a signal thought the power lines to your toasters chip that controls the darkness of the toast, then when you make toast bam your banned for live. lol. But seriously here is something for you parinoids to chew on ever notice that on your home network when you first turned your xbox on it sent a signal to your computer and was seen as a media extender? and how your xbox is seen by your home computer for streaming videos and music? well whos to say Microsoft you know the makers of windows on your pc isn't having the xbox send info to the pc when it connects and having it transmitted along with all the other info that is sent from your computer to them? and if you think when your pc is on it isnt sending info left and right out to other people then your just plain ignorant. So how many of you have a computer on your home network thats running at the same time as your xbox hu? bet you never thought of that. oh and in case you missed it again THIS METHOD WILL GET YOU BANNED.IT IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE HOW ARE BANNED ALREADY OR DON'T CARE ABOUT LIVE. people read the posts for gods sake.

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

OK the dashboard is the software that software update that runs the xbox(more or less). its the fall update. you have to have that or this method wont work you have to update your xbxox if you are banned then just use the manual method of burning the update from xbox.com. as for your proprlem with tekken lol you did it right the first time but then you went and re-checked it with abxg360 set on auto fix and abxg tried to fix it back to wave 4. lol

after you change it to wave 3 dont go and then try to auto fix verify it with abxg or what do you thing is gonna happen ? abxg is all confused because it knows its a wave 4 game but its saying its a wave 3 so it tries to fix it.

The part in abxg that said this " Checking PFI
PFI CRC = 2A4CCBD3
PFI matches known data (3rd wave - requires iXtreme v1.51 or later) is what you wanted see it said wave 3 you did it right . if you did it right everything will check out in abxg (when set to autofix level of 0) except you will get 4 bad crc's in red. thats fine just burn it and play. your banned it wont matter. and even if you are not banned the live service knows this is a wave 4 game not a wave 3 and why the tutorial says dont do this if you are not banned...so why are you doing a verification with abxg anyway.

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

Here are two ways to manually update your dashboard if you are banned or dont have live these are from microsofts site. I personally would use the burning to a cd method it just seems to be less of a hassle. also if you would read the original post there is a link to another site that has all updates for the xbox but, only the current one will allow you to play wave 4 games that have been made into wave 3. Again if you dont do the dashboard update all you will get when inserting a game is an update loop.

Copy the Update to a USB Flash Drive

If you don't have an Xbox LIVE account or have a slow Internet connection, using a USB flash drive is a good option.
Note

Copy the Update to a USB Flash Drive
If you don't have an Xbox LIVE account or have a slow Internet connection, using a USB flash drive is a good option.

Note: The USB flash drive must use the FAT32 file system.

Update using a USB flash drive:

1. Connect your USB flash drive to a USB port on your computer.
2. Click http://download.microsoft.com/download/D/1/8/D181EE58-DE70-4484-936B-0E9161CCD6B2/$SystemUpdate_Fall09_8955.zip to begin downloading the update folder. Save it as "$SystemUpdate_Fall09_8955.zip" anywhere on your computer.
3. Unzip the File.
4. Copy the contents from the unzipped folder onto the root of your flash drive.
5. Safely remove the flash drive from your computer and plug it into a USB port on your Xbox 360 console. If your console is on, turn it off, then back on. The update program will start automatically.
6. Select Yes, update now. When you see the new dashboard, you're done.

Burn a DVD or CD
Your other option is to download a file from Xbox.com and burn a DVD or CD. Use this method if you don't have your console connected to broadband, or if you use a dialup connection to the Internet. You could even do this at a friend's house who has a broadband Internet connection and a DVD or CD burner.

To create an update disc you need the following:

* A DVD or CD burner.
* A blank, writeable DVD or CD.
* The update file from Xbox.com.

This procedure involves burning the DVD or CD by using Microsoft Windows DVD or CD burning software. If you're using third-party CD/DVD writing software, follow the instructions for creating a data disc.

The same steps apply whether burning a CD or a DVD.

To create a DVD or CD:

1. Click http://download.microsoft.com/download/D/1/8/D181EE58-DE70-4484-936B-0E9161CCD6B2/$SystemUpdate_Fall09_8955.zip to begin downloading the update folder. Save it as "$SystemUpdate_Fall09_8955.zip" anywhere on your computer.
2. Place a blank disc in your burner.
From Windows Explorer, select Open Writable CD Folder Using Windows Explorer or open the CD drive icon.
3. Open (double click) the zipped $SystemUpdate_ Fall09_8955.zip folder and drag the contents of the zipped folder to the root of the CD Folder. If the CD write window doesn't open by default, drag and drop the folder onto the CD/DVD RW drive.

Note
If you are using an earlier version of Windows you will need to open the file using a separate utility (for example, WinZip).
4. In the Explorer window, click Write files to CD from the CD writing tasks or right-click the CD/DVD RW drive and select Write these files to CD.

Caution
The update filename and folder structure must be intact for the update to run properly.
5. Follow the steps in the CD wizard.
When you are finished with the wizard, the CD will eject. Your CD is ready.

To update the console:

1. Place the CD in the Xbox 360 console.
2. Power cycle the Xbox 360 console.
3. The update program will start automatically. Select Yes, update now and press A.
4. Wait for the update to complete.
5. When the console reboots, you're done.

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

Ok so I just downloaded that update..I am assuming this is the most recent update(by the way, when did it come out since I had on my xbox for weeks and never received this update) its on my computer now..and I see the folder $SystemUpdate_Fall08_7363 then inside that folder I see this folder $SystemUpdate then inside that are the other stuff..so what do I do..drag the $SystemUpdate folder onto a black DVD-R disk right(because that is all I have besides the DL disks which would be ridiculous since this file is only 80mb

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

Seriously guy I can only help so much. the instructions are pretty detailed. and you can use a blank cd or a usb thumb drive as well. and yes I would say it is the most current since it is coming direct from the xbox.com web site. I believe it was released October 28th I may be a few days off. and not all xboxes get the update automatically anyway last year gold members got the updates like a month before anyone else if I remember correctly. also if you are banned like you say then you wont get the update through live. But if your not banned and you use this method to make backups it wont be long untill you are banned.

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

Well I am sorry But it works just fine for me and for a lot of others who have done it. I am thinking your main problem is trying to re verify the game after you change it to wave 3. YOU SHOULD NOT DO THAT. you have changed it to wave 3 abxg is gonna tell you it is wrong because the database is saying it is suppose to be a wave 4. stop trying to re verify the game image after you change it to a wave 3.

The abxg readout you posted earlier was correct READ THE PFI INFO you had successfully changed the game to a wave 3 but then had abgx set to auto fix so abxg was trying to change it back to wave 4 like it is suppose to be.

And if your console is banned anyway why are you trying to re verify stealth any how? Cuz its not gonna you have messed with the game image and why it is been said a thousand times if you use this method you will get banned.
