Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

harlaquin said:
Well I am sorry But it works just fine for me and for a lot of others who have done it. I am thinking your main problem is trying to re verify the game after you change it to wave 3. YOU SHOULD NOT DO THAT. you have changed it to wave 3 abxg is gonna tell you it is wrong because the database is saying it is suppose to be a wave 4. stop trying to re verify the game image after you change it to a wave 3.

The abxg readout you posted earlier was correct READ THE PFI INFO you had successfully changed the game to a wave 3 but then had abgx set to auto fix so abxg was trying to change it back to wave 4 like it is suppose to be.

And if your console is banned anyway why are you trying to re verify stealth any how? Cuz its not gonna you have messed with the game image and why it is been said a thousand times if you use this method you will get banned.

I thought I need to verify the game in order to play wave 4 games on my wave 3 console..I am on firmware 1.51..I am already banned..I dont know what the heck I did right last night but now its not working..those two files dont even show up as verifying on my abgx anymore..it just continues the process like its a wave 4 game and it cannot be found

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

I'm just going to wait for the new firmware to come out..its going to come out in a few weeks, I believe its called 1.7..because 1.61 has had issues..so I am just going to be patient and wait..and when the new firmware comes out, then I will be able to play these wave 4 games..but do I still need to install that dashboard update or not

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

all you need to do is verify the image the first time to make sure it is a valid image before you go tampering with it(because it does no good to go changing a game image around if its bad to start with). but after that just follow the directions and if you want ot check that you did it right you can use abxg but set it to auto fix level 0 DONT autofix anything after you have done the fix or abgx is gonna go and undo what you have done. When checking the image after the fix and after setting abxg to auto fix level 0 then the new images pfi should read as a known wave 3 game and your set dont worry about anything else just burn it at that point.

I have attached before and after pictures of abxg hope they help opps sorry the before and after pics are reversed look at the bottom pic for the before.

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

wow dude I am usually the most patient person have you not read a single thing on this topic no wonder you cant get it to work. YES you will need the new dashboard if you dont put the new dashboard on your console every time you put a wave 4 game in it will prompt you to update. That is true for retail games, backups, and fixed backups.

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

I appreciate your help..believe me I am trying to understand, I am just new at this..I am used to verifying wave 3 games, not used to doing this and its just hard for me..I might just end up waiting for the new firmware to come..no matter what I do I cant make my abgx screen look like yours..so either way even if I get the new firmware I Need to do the dashboard update..I am going to do that now..I just need to burn the data files onto a DVD-R disk correct?

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

Sorry I didn't mean to sound like an ass. yes just unzip the file you downloaded and leave it in tacked then burn it to a dvd or to just a plain cd either way. or you can put it on a usb pen if you don't want to waste a disk.

Oh believe me, I dont think your an ass..I think you are really nice to help me..I just dont want to ruin my XBOX..Ok so I have roxio creator 2010 pro open..so I just burn the entire folder(In its entirety to the data disk) then I just burn it right..that simple..sorry to be a pest..I wish you had AIM or MSN messenger, if you are online I'd love to chat with you..I know once I get the hang of this it would be simple..I just dont want to ruin my xbox

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

yes just burn the update folder to the disk that's it , then put it in the xbox. it wont mess up your xbox if you do it wrong all will happen if wrong is the xbox will say cant read disk or is a mixed media disk . as for the file it wont harm your xbox it came from the xbox web site. it is the exact same update people get over live. and you never know you may already have it if you do the xbox will tell you so when you put the disk in.

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

wait a second..the update you gave me was fall 2008..on this xbox site it mentions
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/console/systemupdates.htm
it mentions $SystemUpdate_Fall09_8955.zip" did I just download and burn an old version because the one that you gave to me is
$SystemUpdate_Fall08_7363
and that is from 2008

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

Wow dude your right I am so so so sorry I was in such a hurry to help I didnt double check the link. I fixed it now it is the right update link fall 09. But it wouldnt have done anything your xbox would have just said you had a newer update. as far was waiting for the new firmware ? uh it isnt gonna matter you have to apply the new fall 09 update the is a fact it isnt gonna matter if it new firmware or not because the back ups your gonna play will be wave 4 and they will have the fall update 09 built into them and are gonna make you update the dashboard no matter what. and really on a side note regardless of your feelings toward microsoft you basically just said your gonna trust a firmware hack made my a mystery 3rd person from the net instead of the software made by the console manufacturer? and that makes no sence to me. Everything has a chance of bricking your console thats life but trust me your gonna have to do that fall update one way or another to play wave 4 games so really your just being paranoid. The games themselves will require the update they check the console for the new update you can not play a wave 4 game without doing the update period regardless of firmware or what you did to the video layer like make it a wave 3 it will still require the update. anyway thats all i can do you can play your games now or wait for a new firmware and then verify your games and burn them weeks from now just to find your still gonna have to install the update. and if your already banned then i personally wouldnt wait or get the new firmware once you get the wave 4 to 3 conversion down it isnt hard. anyway that will be my last post on it good luck.

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

I am getting my xbox flashed this week, thank you so much for answering my questions..just one final question before I go..I want to burn some of my wave 4 games using abgx..since now I can care less about the yellow warnings, but I just want to be sure that the yellow messages dont actually effect the actual game...for example, this Tekken 6 verification..notice how on the bottom it says
Cannot check SplitVid due to invalid or uncertain PFI/Video
is that Ok..I know abgx will come out with a new version of their program soon, but since I dont want to wait, I am doing it this way

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

abxg is just confused because the version you have dosent know what a wave 4 is your image is fine. also i am still confused as to why you are so set on verifying the games when your banned already? all abxg is doing is checking the stealth more or less and for you it dosent matter because you said you are already banned so I dont understand your persistence on running verification. Im sorry I cant help you anymore I have already gone over and over this and you still insist on running abxg with fixed or wave 4 games and right now abxg dosent do any good with either of those, and is gonna return bad results. I would just burn the game for goodness sakes you allready stated your console was banned so stealth checking and abxg verifying is a useless thing for you. you can do what ever you want to your game images with out worry because you are already banned. I cant see why you dont understand this.

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

the only reason why I wanted to verify the game is because I want abgx to tell me if the game is corrupt, I am not verifying it as far as xbox live is concerned, I just want to verify that the game is not corrupt..that is my only concern

I burnt the dvd as I usually do and it still says "Play DVD". As you can see, it doesnt look like abgx360 patched it at all.. I dont understand why it wont work. I have done this exact patch on Tekken 6 and it worked perfectly and I have been playing it since. Is there somewhere i'm going wrong? Any help would be much appreciated!

PS.
I dont care about getting banned or going online or any of that. I simply wish to patch the game to play it offline.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

it is because after you guys are fixing the game image to wave 3. you are then running it through abxg again and abgx thinks it should be a wave 4 game and trys to fix it back. after you go through the steps of changing it to a wave 3 game then Either dont run it through abxg or if you just have to DONT autofix the game or verify it or abxg will try to change it back to a wave 4. Ill say again why are you people determined to verify a game you have hacked to work as a wave 3? it wont verify because you have changed the crcs by making it a wave 3. abxg dosent know this and things its a broken image and tries to fix it back to a wave 4. so again after you fix the backup to a way 3 do not rerun it through abxg unless you have verify and autofix turned off and then it will show as a wave 3 instead of the way 4 you guys keep seeing. if you look about 2/3rds the way down your log file see where abxg is connecting to fix the game back to wave 4. also if you look on about the 3 page of this post you will see what before and after logs of abxg should look like that i posted. Again i did not make this tutorial but it has worked for me on all wave 4 games you just have to follow and understand the instructions. and if i get enough people who want it i have figured out a way to make wave 4 into wave 3 using xboxbackup creator it is a little easier and works 100% as long as after the fix you dont try to verify the game. There is nothing to verify and it will fail every time if you have changed a wave 4 to wave 3 and why this tutorial says only do this if you are already banned or dont use xbox live because you are corrupting the image to do this and will be detectable. I know i said it like 20 times lol I am just trying to make people understand.

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

You have been insanely patient in this thread. I am going to give this a shot. I believe the firmware on this 360 is ixtreme 1.4 It was banned a long time ago when I first got started modding so I don't have anything to lose.

Will this work using Left 4 Dead 2 as my source or is this game considered Wave 5?

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

hi all. i used the waves patcher to convert cod mw2 from wave 4 to wave 3 and have done so. the problem i am having is that when i insert the disc in the 360 it comes up on the screen "an update must be appllied to your console to play this game.if i decline i will not be able to play this game". so i do the update and then it restarts and asks the same thing again.and then goes through the same proccess over and over any ideas....... please.. as far as i am aware i have the 1.51 firmware.

Re: Wave 4 to wave 3 patching guide

cesamac if you o back to page 3 of this topic my first post on that page explains how to manually update you xbox dashboard . you have to do this update or you will get the repeated update loop that you are having. i have covered this numerous times in this post. it is also stated in the very first post on this topic that you will have to update the dashboard. anyway if you go back to page 3 my first post on that page tells you exactly how to do it and that shoudl fix your update loop problem.
