Hi. I did my second slim flash on a brand new xbox. My first slim i did successfully, this one not so good. Please help.

This was a brand new out of the box, the 0401 drive,i put the dash to 14719, did kamakaze knife mod, drive unlocked 0x00 perfect, retrieved dummy and OFW, flashed to LT3.0 and locked drive per JF tut. When i switched xbox the orig and backups give Open Tray only. Drive ejects perfect but it seems i may have knifed a tad too deep which seems like the motor thing not working. This i gathered from all feedback on various forums.

So i have a 0225 unlocked pcb (Green one) handy that was kamikaze from my friend, that i would like to now replace in my xbox.

Please could u advise the process to follow here ie what to load into source, target, etc and the steps prior to me replacing the pcb on my drive? Do i just connect the loose unlucked pcb to JF first before placing replacing. And what abt the key from my orig pcb? Im a bit (ok very) confused and would appreciate any help that you guys can give. Also i believe i need to solder some wires, i have a soldering iron but never soldered or desoldered before. Is this very easy?

Im using X360 pro and CK3i and latest JF.

I strongly suggest you practice soldering or desoldering before you attempt this.

My advise is pay a pro if your out of your depth.

just hook up your spare unlocked 0225 pcb, intro power cycle, press the spi radio button, rub hole on pcb with ipa or use a, leg of a resistor to poke the hole, jungleflasher will beep.load your 0401 dummy/ofw as source, and 0401lt3.0 to target then write, outro then intro again then lock, then outro, when you did the kamakaze on your 0401 was the laser ribbon connected

Hey thanks for the quick replies!

@doe1200
Yes I had the laser ribbon connected when I did the Kamakaze.....You think thats the problem as the hold didn't appear that deep?

Do i need to do all this in JF after I have connected the 0225 in the drive, or can it simply be done like that and connect it up after that?
Also did u mean i can load source as either the orig 0401 dummy OR OFW? Would either be fine then?

theres a possibility you could of burned your laser out,you will know once you connect the spare pcb,you can flash the spare pcb out of the drive and then connect it,either one will be fine dummy are ofw

sorry be a pain. The spi button already reflects 0x00 in JF when i connect the replacement pcb. If I click it while on this status, wont it unlock? Should i skip this step then?

I meant won't it lock again....sorry

ok thanks and sorry one more quest.
i see the replacement pcb is coming up as: DG-16D4S (1071) and not 0225 as i thought it would. Is this fine to proceed with the 1071 as a replacement PCB.
Do I need to erase whatever is on the 1071 first or just do source/target and get straight into it?

ok all done and success, checked jf after writing and lock, and drive now comes up as 0401 - brilliant thank you very much.

.....Now just to stick in the drive (and desolder/solder!!!!) and test.

hey guys
So i replaced the PCB, desoldered/soldered the 5 wires.....powered up the Xbox and same problem >> Just says Open Tray (orig or copied).....
I am stumped.
So i stripped the drive again, hooked it up to ck3i and usb pro, when i eject the drive and close it, I can see the laser (red light) trying to read the disc (empty). When i put a disc in it makes a strange noise (couple of seconds) but the disc does not spin. Motor?
What could be the problem? I am desperately in need of advice and assistance as like i said this was a brand new slim.

Here is a pic of my replaced pcb....all look good yeah?

Try changing your SATA cable on the Xbox. I have had such issues previously. Also, check your wiring/soldering and laser and motor ribbons on the PCB. Make sure they are not loose/locked in place. If the drive motor does not run still, you might want to change the PCB.

well the replacement pcb was never tested by me, but the guy i got it from is a pro. And i have no xbox to test it on:(
So it sounds like I need a new drive or can I just replace the laser?
If the laser is dead would it still blink red when powered on?

Just get a spare drive off any Xbox 360 slim, reprogram it temporarily and use it to check your laser if you feel that is the issue :)
