Kamikaze hack help.

Im about to do the kamikaze hack on a 0401 drive & i've got the jamikaze winbond template and narked the spot where i need to drill.

My question is:

I dont have a dremel and ive read & seen videos people using soldering iron, is the soldering iron method easier & dependable way to unlock it?

Lastly,if ill use the soldering iron method,does it need to be plugged in to the outlet & turned on?

I would not suggest using the soldering iron, and instead using an xacto knife or the included drill bit as it would be very easy to mess it all up with an iron.

yes use the hand drill. ive used the soldering iron before and its was okay but the hand drill is easier

Definitly stay away from iron, try hand drill as it less of a risk, take your time and check, take breaks frequent as this I'm assuming is your first.

Yes,its my 1st time & yes i tried using the drill bit that came w/ the template. I've beeb manually drilling for 30-40mins still wont unlock. Does it really take a ling time if i use the drill bit.

Btw,i have an exacto knife,do i just have to scratch the silver spot that i see where i've been manually drilling?

Yes depends on your skill, I've seen people take about an hour, once you see that silver thing...aka Trace your there, be very careful don't over do it now, your so close

Are you drilling for oil? 30-40 min? Something is wrong, it should take no more then 4-5 min even if you dont apply much pressure. Show us a picture.

He! He! I hope so. but seriously im really drilling it with effort already but it seems that my drill bit aint that sharp coz my arm & hand is already sore from doing it. Il continue my journey again later,il give it another 15mins if still wont unlock.. Its exacto knife time.

Haha, you guys crack me up.

As long as you get the location of the point extremely precise all you need to do is spin you Xacto knife around with your fingers until you hear the JF tone. While "drilling" the hole let off with the Xacto knife a few times and gently blow the dust from the hole, eventually you should see wire. (That's what she said.)

Yer use a xacto knife works very well and if you marked the right place can't go wrong I use a number 11 scalpel and it makes the smallest of holes very very clean job just take your time don't go to far as it is you first one...hope all gos well buddy

in my first one, yesterday, i finished it in 3 lines and a half in jungleflasher with the drill, used the template and the hand drill, you cracked that thing up, dude you should have found diamonds by now if you were drilling in earth!!!!!!!!!!!

Its quite easy to take your time with a hole and not go to deep and still get the same reaction believe me PMSL

must admit i use an iron, killed two when wasnt marking up properly, but done easy 30 since, i just take my sweet time with a 15 watt iron with the tip purpose crafted at 0.2 mm with blunted nose, and keep letting the chip cool down with small breaks and alcohol baths and get so far and do the rest with the spike tool from the unlock kit for slims.

3-5 mins tops and never a problem since getting the digi microscope that was recomended by someone on here for marking up.
