Hi,

I was following Rdubbz tutorial on the KAMA hack and I got as far as drilling and hearding JF making the beep tone so I stopped.

When I hit 0x00 to lock the drive I am getting LOCK FAILED!

Then my JF crashed and when I open it up again and INTRO the drive I am getting:

Serial flash found with Status 0x72

Sending Device ID request to port 0x0000
Spi Status: 0x00
Manufacturer ID: 0x0
Device ID: 0x0
Flash Name: Unknown type
Flash Size: n/a

When I try to hit WRITE I am getting it coming up saying "Unknown flash type Write aborted !".

Any ideas?

Try the drive in the console.
It doesn't have my key on it. It was a spare PCB that I had when I replaced a friends with a TX PCB.

When I power the drive it is not ejecting and in JF it doesn't see the drive.

Is this because it has no firmware on it or is this because I have botched it lol.

UPDATE: In JF on the MTKFlash tab if I tick the Slim box and do an INTRO, power cycle it comes up:

Serial flash found with Status 0x72

Sending Device ID request to port 0x0000
Spi Status: 0x00
Manufacturer ID: 0x0
Device ID: 0x0
Flash Name: Unknown type
Flash Size: n/a

Haha, By the look's of it, it is a failed hack, but I did get some progress yesterday. I changed from JF 1.94 to 1.92 and I was able to LOCK THE DRIVE to 0x8C. However when I try to unlock it, it won't unlock haha. I'm going to play about with it a bit today just to see if there's any change.

If you couldn't vendor intro it, it wasn't erased (even before you got it).

If it wasn't erased, the drive should have still been detected.

Post a pic of what you've done to the chip.

Sorry was little mans birthday yesterday so couldn't get on to upload pic.

When I received Rocket.man's PCB I purchased the holes where in the same spot but mine was a bit wider (will upload pic soon).

Chances are that's why it is not working properly.

I recommend using one of the maximus templates for marking your hole, it is far more accurate. When the tut I put out there was made there was no template available.
Yeah I was looking to buy one of them but I couldn't find anywhere in the UK that sold them (apart from xconsoles but they wanting $30+ for delivery :S )
