I have seen that the kamikaze method requires a wire attached to a 3.3v with a 100ohm resistor which is attached to the drimmel when your digging in.
Also I noted that the guide is from august
http://www.team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69091

I also read at some places that I no longer need the wire as the new JF the 1.88 & 1.89 can detect the change in the SPI immediately while you are digging into the chip with a drimmel.

So my question would be, do I still need the wire? If its optional, is it better to have it?

Cheers; appreciate you taking your time to help me out

Done mine with a knife worked like a charm, only took a couple of turns to unlock it's worth a try cause you have to buy a new pcb anyway if you want to flash it.
