exactly what i wrote i kamikazed a 0401 everything went fine except when writing jf said write verify failed also wouldnt outro the way its supposed to ie only says drive is lite on but it works fine with latest firmware .any ideas or thoughts ? just asking for feedback although it really dosent matter as it works

dont update without locking drive i did that and it mess up one of my drives. all of my games said unsupported disc plus the orginals too.

it mess up my xbox too and i had to play games off hard drive rgh. that is the only way it play games

I believe this is what happens when you drill too far. Replace the board or do the pro mod to replace the chip.
one time it did the samething to me and i made sure the drive was on phat then it worked. not on slim. try that.

Ive got a couple like this, putting it down to a now dead chip. I would buy new chips for them, not sure if its really worth it.

I just filled the hole with conductive glue. 3 chips like the op posted worked just by adding conductive glue then drying with solder iron.
do you have an ihas burner by any chance?
i never get a write verify if my ihas burner is connected to the pc for some reason. remove it and same drives verify everytime.
