I was Just wondering how some of you are keeping your x-box's temperature down?

Using extra fans?
12v mod?
Any going liquid cooling?
Are Aftermarket fans worth the time if so which one?

any of those methods gets the job done.
I personally prefer the extra fans mod for any pre-jasper mobo

Trying to get some ideas for my next case you mind me asking you what fans you used and how and where did you place and draw power from?
Also has anyone had any dealings with the XCM Core Cooler v2? I like the design but worried about quality. Also any one using Whisper fans?

let me get back to you after i get back from college and i'll edit my post and tell you what i did m8. but i used one fan it looked exactly like this:

(not my picture)
i think it's the most likeable fan mod, as it's discrete and efficient

both the whisper fans and xcm core coolers are both useless

core cooler v2 only cool the cpu and not gpu so on xenons and falcons gpu will still overheat

the standard whisper fans are useless and can some times be loader than standard. The nitro fans are ok as they have a 12v switch so you can choose to have them run at 5v or 12v

So What is the best way to keep the GPU Cool? May not be possible but would like it to be as quite as possible. (Play at night while others are sleeping)

*well, after seeing iave9504 posts, i would definitely follow his advice as to wich are the best fanscause i used generic ones...

*you can get an idea where i put it from the picture, it was right next to the drive

*i draw power from the same place the other fans do, used splitted cables and an adaptor

I use both the V2 fans and the talismoon fans. I have found the Talismoons rears lowered my temps by 3 degrees accross the board and the V2 lowered by another 8 or so. Dropped my temps from 142 on my cpu to 131. made a big difference. I dont like the way the V2 fans hook into the dvd drive but that was an easy fix! The second fan on the side really doesnt do much except bring more air in and add to the wind flow. Yes with a xenon with the old heat sink if your wanting to cool the GPU then its not going to do alot of good but it still moves more air.

heres some pics of my fan mods all tho not very quiet it has been very effective in cooling according to XM360 (i think thats what that app was called any how) my cpu temp averaged 50c and my GPU was around 45c this is a xenon board which i put the new radiator style GPU sync on i also did a 12v fan mod on the stock fans and the additional fan is also 12v

also note NOTHING is hard wired i de-soldered some 3 pin fan plugs from a PC motherboard so i could easily change the fans unplug them what ever i just didn't want the fans permanently attached to the motherboard, the add'd fan is a vantec that came off a P4 heat sync that pushes nearly 36CFM of air at 5800 RPM according to the review for the sync i read ( http://www.3dvelocity.com/reviews/aeroflow/vp4c7040_2.htm )

I have a Xenon Jtag, so Im always worried about overheating. I have..
custom case
Xecuter Xbox 360 RROD repair kit pro 2
Xecuter Xdrive plus & Xfan
XCM high speed air cooler V2
2nd Gen Heatsinks

I run fans on high, and temp tops out @ 40c. Its a little loud.

40c out of xenon is not bad, jtagged jaspers with no fan mods run hotter than that about 50c-58c in my experience

im still at a loss deciding if im going to buy an RROD repair kit or not to replace the X-clamps i dont really "need" any thing that comes with the kits just proper length scres and proper thickness washers it would almost be pointless to buy an RROD kit an only use 1/3 of it

i even have heat sync's to put on the chip set one is from an ATI rage 128 pro AGP vid card kinda thought it would be kool to use it on a 360 lol

I recommend a 9v stock fan upgrade. It's very simple, just YouTube "9v xbox 360 fan upgrade" it's way quieter than 12v, but keeps just as cool.

Adding bigger fans will indeed help, some even mount the DVD-Drive on-top of the x-box 360 to help with keeping it running cooler,

I personally just change the thermal compound over (if its old) and tune down the target temps in the SMC. Fans kick in harder alot earlier using stock fans. My Jasper has a talismoon fan but still a little noisy

I use whisper fans, but mainly for visual asthetics, honestly arent as quiet as you would think. I would suggest replacing microsofts crappy thermal compound with some arctic silver #5, and lowering temperatures ratings in the SMC config on your nand.(Fans Speed up at a lower temperature.) The 12V fan mod works, but is not recomended, as your fans will burn out faster, and it is easier to change the smc, or if you are running FSD, then you can adjust the fan speed in the settings.
