JTAG Killed Original Nand

Alright so when I initially started trying to JTAG my Zephyr it was over LPT which turned out to be a bad idea even though I did manage to get 4 identical NAND dumps they were screwed up as when I went to change the Microsoft date in one of the dumps to open it in Degraded that line was screwed up. So now I'm up a creek and well you know the rest. I have the dump from my Xenon which was done using Nand-X so I know that one is good. My question is could I just take the KV & such from the Xenon dump and use it on the Zephyr with a donor NAND? Then all I have to change is the CPU key on the Zephyr to that of the Xenon correct?

^ Before saying anything else, I think you should know that you cannot use a Xenon NAND image on a Zephyr....

Well I figured you can't just flash it over and be done with it. I know you'd need a Zephyr donor NAND which can be found online but I remember reading something about people using keyvaults from other JTAG systems to unban a console so I figured I could combine the donor NAND as well as the key vault swap to revive my system. Then again I also believe I read that there are different versions of key vaults so maybe I won't be able to use the Xenon KV on my Zephyr. If anyone can help me out as to how to resolve this issue I would really appreciate it.

Ok so after a bit of research I've learned that the Xenon uses Type 1 KV and the Zephyr uses Type 2 so I could take the KV from the Zephyr and use it on the Xenon but not from the Xenon to the Zephyr. So I'm guessing to get my JTAG to work I need to buy a Type 2 KV from someone?

1. You say you dumped the NAND successfully 3 times, did you try to change the date on only 1 file or all 3 of them? In the future you need to work on a copy and not your original NAND dumps (there's a second good reason for dumping them beside using them as a source to create your rebooter  ).

2. Some xenons do have type 2 KV's, at least I came through few my self.

3. I do have some zephyr nand dumps as well as type 2 kv's that might help you.

What I am trying to do is get the Zephyr up and running. First tried to JTAG using the LPT method which yielded in consistent dumps although I manage to get four that were identical albeit still screwed up. Was dumb and went ahead with flashing Xell pulling the key and then trying to flash FreeBoot. Standard E79 so I did the alternate SMC points which didn't help. Did the transistor mod still didn't help. So now I'm stuck with a system and only the CPU key no useful NAND dumps. Thus I was asking about using a donor NAND from JTAG Tool and using the KV from the Xenon which I did JTAG after the fact with NAND-X. But since the Xenon uses Type 1 and you can't use a type 1 on a type 2 system (Zephyr) then I'm completely lost as to what to do now.

No I didn't change one of the original identical dumps. I made a copy and instead of saying Microsoft it was screwed up as well as the date which I was going to change.

So is the original dump still intact as it was the first time?

Yes they are however they appear to be messed up somehow probably from originally dumping with a poor LPT cable setup. I've tried flashing it back with NAND-X and removing the JTAG wiring itself and it still yields E79 so I'm pretty much trying to figure out how to build a NAND from scratch so I can even get the system to work on a stock dash so I can start all over the proper way.

Ok so in an attempt to atleast get Xell running I removed the QSB's and reinstalled them. Checked for continuity and everything was looking good. Extended the JTAG wiring with the same color and gauge wiring I had on hand and connected it using the AUD_Clamp DVD_Tray method. Reflashed Xell and it booted fine. I then tried to create a Freeboot bin using one of the older NAND dumps and it returned E79 (1033) I'm guessing this is caused by a faulty NAND dump being used to create the freeboot image? I apologize for beating a dead horse just trying to get this sorted out as I know I didn't completely kill it yet.
