Need a little help here guys. Ive flashed a 360 with LT2.0 for a friend of mine. All the Kinect games boot up ok but the KInect itself doesnt respond other than this error message says:

Update required
A System update is required to use Kinect, to get the update, sign in to Xbox Live. For more info visit www.xbox.com/update

Second Error Message says

System Update required
This game requires a system update. For more info visit www.xbox.com/support

Any help with this would be very much appreciated. I dont actually own a Kinect myself so tbhis is new to me. Thanks in advance guys

Did you update the dash? I belive there was a update for the kinect its self, the latest dash will prompt you to update the kinect its self so you need to put the Xbox on live with the kinect pluged in to it.

I had the same message on mine. All you need do is connect to xbox live & it will update automaticly.

If you do the latest dash update, WITHOUT any memory device, your dvd drive will be flashed, but you won't have the correct update flashed to your console.

A customer bought an old console to me earlier last week, he said he'd updated the dash, the Liteon was an 0251, but he'd never had any form of memory unit, either hdd or memory card - & was getting the same error, when trying to use a backup of the Penguins of Madagascar game, so I inserted a 256mb card, re-did the dash update, reflashed it, & it now works perfectly.

there is a small update for kinect - usually it installs from the game disk....I take it ur friend doesn't have live access?
I think its probably a banned console anyway. It wont update from a disc but I will take a look on xbox.com and download the update I need and install from a flash drive, If I have to reflash it then so be it. Thanks for the help guys, its always very much appreciated :)

Bang on the money.
not quite - the dash update goes on no problemo......it's the kinect and avatar updates that require the extra memory.....once u plug in a HDD or mem unit- it will have space to store the info for these 'extra' update bits

so for instance - update to 13604 with no HDD or memory -the update will error and not install the kinect or avatar items but the dash will report 13604 afterwards

Hi afsilver, thanks for the reply.

Allready got that update, the problem is that when i turn my xbox on with that update on a pen drive plugged on usb, it wont do anything, just go to xbox menu. Maybe its a usb pen problem? I have to get another one to try.

don't forget to plugg your HDD in, the kinect update requires a hdd/mu to be stored at.

if your not banned just connect the console to LIVE and the update will be downloaded, but it will be the same update.
