that is outdated. run any dashlaunch installer 3.08+ and enable updserv option. then goto the computer and open j-runner, choose the latest dash and click update. it is as simple as that, no need to take apart, j-runner and dashlaunch do it all. it will even update avatar amd kinect data if you copy the stock update to the dashverson folder in the xebuild folder.

You can do that through jrunner too. Read the PDF that comes with it...

You should be able to download the latest dash from Microsoft directly, should be a folder labelled $systemupdate for the dash u want.

gavin_darkglide told me to do the following via PM when l asked:

read the j-runner PDF it is included with j-runner, but it is pretty simple. Download latest j-runner and latest dashlaunch, and run dashlaunch installer. Make sure to add updserv=true to the options in the launch.ini. then all you need to do is open j-runner, and click advanced menu, then get latest system update. this will download the latest update from microsoft to the root of the j-runner folder. extract the $systemupdate folder to .\Xebuild\16547, choose dash(16547), then go to client mode tab and read nand. this is mainly so you have a backup of the current nand, just in case something goes wrong. then goto update and choose update. it will automaticly update nand and send avatar and kinect data to console. as long as the console is on the same network, and your computers firewalls allow the traffic. if you have a problem temporaraly disable your firewall. Fairly simple.
lve got to the client mode part where l read the nand and this is what l get (see screencap) tho l do have nand backups l want to be sure l get the cpu key etc right.

(turned off the xbox even clicking update off the update mode tab gives off the same error, l just want to know the easiest way to update the console without messing things up lol)

Why are you clicking 'read' in client mode when that's not what you were advised to do? Go to Update Mode and click Update (as you were advised).
Have you enabled file checks in settings?

EDIT: There is no need to read and write here via client mode. Update mode will create a backup of the NAND in Output anyway. If you're getting 1:1 help via PM I'll close this for now. There is a reason we have forums and that's for everyone to benefit from advice.
