LAN/HDD

LAN is the port on the back of the xbox used for system links and connecting the xbox to the computer. The HDD or harddrive is what data is stored on. Now the lights on the X3 panel are to indicate when either of them are active
You dont have to solder the LAN/HDD but as you got your xbox apart you may as well make use of the activity lights nice to know that something is happening when you sat there waiting for a game to load or ftp'ing plus its the two wires are the easy ones to solder out the whole lot
Can i spoof a BenQ as a Sammy, and put LT on it, is it safe?
just was wondering if it would be safe to spoof a BenQ as a Sammy and upgrade to LT and play on live..? is if it is safe to play on live for the time being with that

m8, you can't spoof LT. Period. Wait for Sammy LT to be released. It's in testnig right now. If the Sammy drive is bad, buy another one and sell the BenQ. Cheers!

However - as has been said all along - Spoofing drive types is NOT Live safe - It's Easily detectable by M$!

Just out of interested, how would the 'game' shops go about repairing/replacing DVD drives? I would assume they would use similar methods to ours (if not the exact same) but wouldn't that endanger the console of being banned from Xbox Live?, hard to imaging this being the shops method as I doubt they would be reselling/repairing the consoles if so.braveH43 said:

to be honest mate! some of the "repairs" i have seen from some shops have been utterly shocking! I saw one shop use the penny trick on one customers box! I mean FFS "professional repairs?" my arse
so with regards to most shops - they are not licensed or endorsed by m$ so - yes they probably do use the same methods!

Thanks guys for the insight, any idea how long before Sammy LT is out, team jungles Twitter says its done but i cant seem to find it, if its out to the public yet
