Does anyone know if a Laptop harddrive will work on an XBOX with use of a converter? I'm putting an XBOX in an NES case and need the smallest parts possible.
Sorry I couldn't find it again but Rookio was asking about a Credit Card Drive and thats sort off like a laptop drive, sorry I have no idea, ask Rookio.
Yes a laptop 2.5" HDD will work in place of a 3.5" HDD in your Xbox case mod. As they both use the same type of 40 pin IDE interface. The drives just have a different size connector/voltage requirements and long as you use a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter your golden.
This is the one I use
Just remeber laptop drives a very fragile and expensive compared to their bigger brother. A 20GB mobile drive goes for $60 compared to a 80GB 3.5" which you can pick up for the same price.
Note: Make sure that you secure the drive in your NES to Xbox case mod as you do not want to leave it flopping around inside, but I sure you know this.
